Cindy Sheehan, the "peace mom" who made headlines in 2005 by staging a marathon protest outside President Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch, said Monday that she no longer wants to be seen as a leader of the anti-war movement.

In a 1,245-word missive entitled "Goodbye Attention Whore" posted on the liberal DailyKos blog, Sheehan said her campaign to end the war in Iraq had strained her relationship with her children, cost her a marriage and left her nearly penniless.

"This is my resignation letter as the 'face' of the American anti-war movement," Sheehan wrote. "I am going to take whatever I have left and go home. I am going to go home and be a mother to my surviving children and try to regain some of what I have lost."

Heh. Yeah. A lot :).

Anyways. As to Sheehan: I sorta respect her. Not her stance per se, but...let's face it, she started in on Democrats that were the other direction on her issue. I think she was sincere in her beliefs all along. Her tactics ranged from mediocre to bizarre and she hung out with real jerks or worse (Moore, Chavez, Jackson, etc.). But it was going after Dems that brought the wrath of DU/DailyKOS and the like down on her head.

Very interesting. Folks, there are a LOT of lessons to be learned about our opponents from this. They'll tear each other's throats out at a moment's notice, for starters.

I feel she is doing the right thing. She lost a son, a marriage, her mind and was used for a cause which got a lot of Dem's elected on the promise they would do something to end the war. They lied.

Time to cut her looses and head on home.

She stood for what she believed, that is honorable. Others used her, hung her out, let dry, used her up again. I think she realized her 'friends' were as bad as her 'enemies', at least the 'enemies' were clearly defined.

There are revealing elements of this that give me hope that "they" will not be able to orchestrate an effective full takeover of our system for the long haul.

The thing that bothers me is that we could be weakened for a much more serious attack. Anyway. . . . rest up girl, if you were here I'd buy you a beer and listen to your story.

I actually feel a wee bit sorry for her. A woman, grief stricken over the death of her son, allowed herself to be used as a political pawn by others. And she paid a very dear price for it. Unless she gets some serious mental health help soon, I see severe depression and possibly suicide in her future.

Almost penniless my ass. I have little doubt there will be many charitable donations to her, there will probably be a book deal and perhaps TV/movie deal for her, and there is even the possibility of future speaking engagements and paid fund raising for far left political candidates in her future. She will probably end up with a small fortune thanks to her tasteless exploitation of the heroic sacrifice of her son.

But until then:

na na na na... na na na na... Good-by!!!

This will be like the hunger strike that never was, another attempt at getting attention. I mean, since the Dems took power, she hasn't been in the news much, if at all. Now, she's the hot topic.

An article I read seems to sum it up for me. She was used as a political pawn while she was in the "anger" stage of grief, and rather than move on through the stages, she prolonged her anger in a pathological way. Maybe now she will be able to move through the grief process and resolve it. Hopefully she will come to accept that her son made the decision to volunteer for the military, with all the possible consequences.

I feel badly for anyone that looses a child. I have a hard time holding anyone accountable after the loss of a child. The Dems use her badly, terribly. She went off the deep end. I hope she gets a rational, sane mind back.

Dead offspring or not, when you start calling for an "end to the occupation of New Orleans", you've pretty much earned your moonbat wings...

Oh no, no more Cindy She-man. It makes me so sad.

This lady is ridiculous, the Iraq war was in my opinion not the greatest move but we are there whether we like it or not.
