Cindy Sheehan to Sen. Feinstein: Filibuster Alito or Else!

by Jim Kouri - Superstar anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan is threatening oust Sen. Dianne Feinstein from her senate seat if the Democrat from California doesn't join the senators planning to filibuster Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito.
Sheehan, who's in Venezuela hobnobbing with like-minded socialists such as President Hugo Chavez, was attending the World Social Forum when she heard that several Democrats planned to filibuster Alito but that Feinstein, who is up for re-election in November, announced that she will vote against Alito but would not filibuster the nomination.

Sheehan released a statement in which she warned Sen. Feinstein that if she did not filibuster Alito, Sheehan would run against Feinstein in the upcoming senate election.

Many Washington observers wondered what had caused Feinstein to change her mind on the filibuster, but now the conventional wisdom is that Feinstein does not wish to lose her base -- the ultra-left in California.

Sheehan is expected to arrive in Washington on Monday for preparations to counter President George W. Bush's State of the Union speech scheduled for Tuesday night.

Sheehan became the face of the anti-war movement as a result of her son Casey being killed in Iraq. She's credited with starting a media frenzy during a Summer vigil outside President Bush's Crawford, Texas ranch. She demanded to speak with the president about the death of her son.

Sheehan fell from grace with the Democrat Party establishment when she began making anti-semitic statements and began a verbal feud with Senator Hillary Clinton over her support for the Iraq War. While enjoying much sympathy at first, her popularity began to shrink when she associated with radical fringe groups such as Code Pink.

Feinstien v/s Sheehan grudge match.

I'd sell tickets but .... uuuggghhhh. Just too brutal a match for me to watch. All that crying. All that AWB jargon.

Just too much for me.

I'd really like to see Sheehan as the new Democrat senator in Fienstein's place. Her actual votes on the issues would be about the same as Fienstein's, so that would be a wash. The great thing would be the discredit she could smear all over her party.

Won't happen, though.

Cindy Sheehan needs counseling, she is disgruntled and disturbed and should stay out of the spotlight.

Hi All-

Cindy, your fifteen minutes are over. Stop embarrassing your dead son.

If I were Karl Rove, I'd be on my knees praying that the Democrats allow Cindy Sheehan to run for one of their top offices in either the House or the Senate. I don't think anything could be better calculated to wipe out any electoral advantage the Democrats hope to gain from dissatisfaction with President Bush, the Iraq war, invasions of privacy, circumvention of civil rights, etc. She'd be a gold-plated gift to the Republican election machine!

When I read this, I cracked up and I couldn't stop laughing. Anybody else?

Hi All-

The best thing that could happen for Republicans would be for Cindy to continue her irrational screeching on an even bigger stage by running for political office.

Her hero son is in his grave corkscrewing his way to China with her unpatriotic actions. Hopefully she continues to run and we use the opportunity to trounce the Democratic bid for higher office. Heck, we conservatives are doing a better job of honoring her son than she has.

You know, I hope she does run against DiFi. If she, by some miracle, managed to oust her in the primary I doubt she could win, even in Cali. This might well be our best chace to get DiFi away from the reigns. Sheehan would be so marginalized on the very off chace of actually winning the seat that she'd never accomplish anything. And when the Repub (or better yet Libertarian) defeats her it would be a major coup for the forces of freedom.

Nothing but drop-dead hilarious good can come of this. Can you imagine a televised debate? It might very well break all previous records for unintentional comedy.

I'm sure Feinstein is simply quaking at the thought.

Cindy Sheehan is the tail. She's not going to wag the dog.

I wonder if Venezuelen president Hugo Chavez has been picking up Cindy's tab since the Crawford protests? Nothing like financing a thorn in the administrations side when the thorn is not sharp enough to understand.

I would like to see somebody take Feinstein out of office. I dont care if I have to listen to Cindy Sheehan as long as it is not Feinstein. I do believe that Sheehan could win the primary against Feinstein. Due to the fact that Sheehan is a more popular face on the TV right now and is in the news more than Feinstein.

Oh, please dear God let her run for office. That would just be too fun to watch!
