Citadel compact questions

Anyone have the nickel finish? Is it as good as the pictures you can find on the net?

Any issues? I've read of a lot of issues with short barrel 45s and wonder if this is plagued with similar issues.

I looked at several 1911's the other day from the Citadel, Taurus and some Springfields. I could not see any significant differences in trigger smoothness or otherwise to make me not want to buy one of these compact Citadel pistols for my first 1911.

Mine is parkerized, but no issues except a habit of leaving the last empty on top of the magazine once in a while (particularly with the mags that it came with). It is odd, but doesn't cause a stoppage, the empty falls out when you drop the mag.

It runs like a top on most ammo I've tried when I use Wilson mags, you'll have to do your own testing but mine liked various Hornady loads, Gold Dots, Win PDX and any ball ammo I've tried (including crappy Wolf/Tula steel-case) ... it did not particularly like cheapo Win White Box "personal protection" and I remember that Short Barrel Gold Dots weren't too great, but I never tried again to see if it was the mag, gun, or a bad box of ammo (screw it, they're more expensive in chump boxes and I never see them in 50-round boxes at all).

Taurus doesn't use GI parts for everything, and they don't make an Officer's size model (last time I looked, anyway) ... Springfield makes nice guns and their compacts aren't too much more than their fullsize guns, but the Citadel had the features I wanted without the crap I didn't want on a carry gun, I've dumped the extremely mediocore stock grip scales for slimline alumagrips and have otherwise left it alone, basic cleaning after high-volume range trips and a detail strip once in a while is all it needs other than nice mags, lube, and ammo.

this was the 2nd outing for the gun, the previous outing was only 100rds.
