Classicballistx update

I received a not from Classicballistx. It was very positive. If he has the cylinders I want in stock, I'm going to order them.

He also indicated that in the spring he's going to start making two different types of hammers and triggers to match. I may have part of that wrong. I asked for more into. I'll let you know where this goes...

I think this would be great if he starts making various upgrades for the ROA. Just some things to play with.

It's the holidays and charity begins at home...in my gun safe.

the classic ballistics cylinder i got second hand was terrible, I don't think it was new as stated,on gun broker,ruger is the best quality.and still available at the same price as classic ballistics,185.00 usd,fitted as a spare,same Steele as the original, proofed by sturm ruger,trust the original,the parts are still in production.

Problem with the Ruger cylinder is that you have to send your gun to them, they won't sell just the cylinder. Not sure if they'll sell extras either.

They will sell you all you wanna buy.
Just send them the gun & pay a fitting fee for each cylinder.

rugers fitted cylinder,is in my opinion the only way to go,as the tolerences are tight and a cylinder should be pro fitted to any revolver

I got to tell you that I bought one of the high polished full round cylinders and it fits tighter than the stock cylinder. The cylinder to barrel gap is at .004. On every cylinder as you rotate the cylinder.

Due to illness, I haven't had a chance fire more than caps. All Treso caps fit exactly and evenly.

Each cylinder is exactly .425.....

I'll give everyone a full report when I'm back on both lungs.....but all in all. They don't look bad.

It is hard to figure comments from someone who never bought from us criticizing our product. This from a fellow in Michigan -

From whom did you buy your cylinder? We have no record of your purchasing one from us directly or through an auction site.

Our cylinders sold new, whether directly by us or through auction sites, are accompanied by documentation as to serial number. In our shop, that number translates to the lot of steel, the tooling, and the production sequence as well as the fit test notes if any on the cylinder. Our cylinders don't leave our hands without working. We would like to know more about your experience.

send me one free to have fitted to my ss r o a,thats better quality than second hand one ( cylinder stops were misaligned)as was timing ) I bought off of GB,and ill shoot it ,and i will post the results! good or bad .

Finlay! I got a chance to test out the Classicballistx cylinder I bought new. I'm not sure about the serial number thing. I have a #9 on the cylinder face but it's not stamped. It's like in a really permanent sharpie.

As I said before, each chamber is exactly the same.

Here's what i found:
1) The cylinder locks up solidly.
2) The barrel to cylinder gap is very tight. .004
3) The nipple cut outs are too small to easily use a conventional two sided nipple wrench. Like the kind that Treso requires. You can easily grind a conventional nipple wrench down.
4) No issues at all with stock Ruger nipples or Blomquist nipples that you can use the stock Ruger wrench on or a 3/16 nut driver. All the nipples seated perfectly. They bottomed out and were flush on the inside.
5) The cut outs for the locking notches are shorter. Not sure why, doesn't seem to make a difference.
6) The cylinder pin bearing area is solid. The stock one has a ring cut around it.
7) Finish is in the OK area..
8) It's bored deeper and holds more powder.


Now that I have a one complete lung and the better part of another. I went shooting. I used T7. I was worried about a couple of things.

All chambers were loaded with D/D's loader

1) Leading. I found that the barrel will lead up if the cylinder is too large and you have to make the bullet/ball greater than .454. (Don't ask how I found this out)
I have never had a leading problem with the stock cylinder.

2) I did not have any kind of leading problem with the new Classicballistx cylinder.

3) I used T7 from 35gr to 45gr and BigLube bullets. The 150gr and the 210gr.

4) With 35gr T7 and the 210 BL was just outstanding. This is REALLY comparatively subjective at this point. I am trying to train myself to shoot one handed and one handed only. After a lifetime of shooting two handed....this is no easy task.

5) I was worried I'd have crud problems from shooting with a cylinder gap of .004 but that never happened. T7 shoots really cleanly.

So the cylinder I got from Classicballistx seems to work ok for me.

This would be even longer if I listed all of the modifications to this pistol. I intend to be buried with it.

New Classicballistx Cylinders

Hi,

I finally bought two of the new stainless Classicballistx cylinders for my ROA's. They fit perfectly, dropped right into place, and most importantly they index correctly. I've been trying for quite a while to get these and they just became available again. Pleased with the product! Good job Ed (and Wisent).

I bought one of the blued cylinders and it fits the same way in both my 5 1/2 and 7 1/2 blued ROAs.

I've also had great luck with the CBX cylinders, I bought mine awhile ago and they worked great on both my ROA's and as said above; they're tighter than the factory cylinders, mine also gauge at .004.
