i have used unique and bullseye as of late as that is what is available. however they are dirty, i don't mind cleaning my guns, however it is ridiculous how dirty burning they are.

Anyone got any loads with other powders, that are cleaning burning for .40s&w? i have heard that Winchester 231 is clean burning any input from you experienced guys?

thanks in advance.

Universal Clays burns very clean in the .40 over a wide velocity range, and is accurate.

My top choices for clean & accurate .40 powders are Universal, N-320, N-330 & N-340. Not quite as clean but still very nice are WSF, Silhouette, True Blue, Power Pistol & even TG are not too bad.

Hodgons HS6 is good with your higher loads. the less you use the dirtier it is. I use 7Gr. behind 180Gr trunc bullet and it is clean

+1 on this. I started using VV powders and man what a difference! After a course of 200 rounds my CZ looks like it only has candle soot on/in it.

My personal favorite is IMR 800X b/w 6.3-6.7gr
