I have been informed that I should stop shooting moly coated bullets. And that I should use Sweets 7.62 bore cleaner to clean out the moly that is already there. Does any one know if another bore cleaner will work? I only ask because I already have three other cleaners in house.

I have started shooting 400 and 600 yard events and two other shooters asked why I shot moly coated bullets. Less cleaning I said. I was told that it actually fouls the barrel and you will get very poor results if you shoot non moly coated after moly coated if I do not remove all of the moly from the barrel. Remington LTR, 308.

Hoppes9 will clean moly out of your barrel. Are you having problems staying on target? Not mixing moly and non-moly rounds in the same match are you? I went to all moly with my scout. The barrel was treated with MsMoly and I only use moly coated Match King ammo. I've had no problems because of moly. If anything it's made hits easier, cold bore, 5th shot, 15th shot, everything goes in one small hole. If moly hasn't caused a problem don't go looking for problems. Just my 2 cents.

Quite likely. So either shoot all moly or clean it up and shoot no moly. Don't flip-flop.

My Highpower and Long Range shooting friend has one rifle that has never shot anything but moly. He has another that has never been shot with moly at all. Based on his experience, I don't use moly but if I did, I would use it all the time.

What you believe affects what you see.
There are more important things than moly vs non Moly:
1) Do you believe moly will help?
2) How well lapped is the bore?
3) Do you prefer fighting Copper or fighting Moly?
4) Do you have the discipline to follow a Moly regime?
These questions are more important than the subtle advantages and disadvantages of moly vs non moly, so discussion is difficult.
I am a moly believer, and I prefer to get an unfired, factory lapped barrel, and burnish it with Moly Bore Creame before first firing. That way I don't get any Copper under the Moly.

Curious. Not a lot of experience removing moly from bores, but I thought Sweet's was mainly for copper removal (the ammonia dissolves it, forming a complex). If you wanted it out, I would think many solvents would work, though perhaps something like the relatively new Carbon Cutter (Carbon Killer? -- from SLIP 2000, I think) might float it off nicely. I've played with it in rifles and haven't noticed much difference in my rifles (YMMV). I really like the coating on lead pistol bullets, as it does seem to clean up much easier.
