Anybody else had trouble reassembling the new pt1911? It was a pain in the behind for me. I had never had any problems with any other taurus that I owned, what is the big deal??

Are you having problems with disassembly/reassembly, or with the actual getting the gunk off part?

well mainly putting the slide stop head back in, the pin goes in smooth, but the piece that is used to keep the slide open wouldnt go back in.

Others will give a better answer than I will--but basically, when you reassemble the slide to the receiver,
1. Start with making sure that the barrel link is in the forward position.
2. Then, carefully slide the assembly on--and watch for the alignment of the link hole with the stop (receiver) hole.
3. Now, holding your slide stop so it is at a "5 o'clock" or so orientation, insert it and sweep it upwards, carefully, so you don't scratch the finish.
4. 'snap' into place--and it may help to have a little spatula (knife blade) on hand to push the stop plunger back so the stop goes into place.
And, the next time you have it apart, you may want to polish that stop a bit on the end to reduce the dreaded reassembly scratch.
There are literally a hundred or so good 3rd-party manuals on 1911 disassembly and reassembly--buy one. Perhaps a good one for a new 1911 owner would be Bill Wilson's booklet.

I have re-assembled my PT1911 dozens of times... never any problem. Putting in the slide stop (without adding the "idiot mark") is no more difficult than any other 1911. It is a matter of lining it up with its plunger and pushing it "in and up" while pushing on the pin at the same time.

I had a little trouble the first time I broke down re-assembled my pt1911...but that was my first 1911 cleaning (and my gun has the idiot marks to prove it). The second time, a guy who has already forgotton more than I will ever know about 1911's growled a little when he should have been able to do it blindfolded.
After nearly a year, it comes apart and goes back together smooth.
