Now I really appreciate my PT1911 trigger!

Last Saturday, I shot one of a pair of CZ-52's I recently purchased from Classic Arms. I fell in love with the pistol. I love mil-surps, the simplicity, the functionality and the one dimensional design of the mil-surp.

Today, I made the "mistake of bringing my Taurus PT1911 along with my second CZ-52 to the range. I fired off three mags in the CZ-52, then shot my PT1911 and all of a sudden, I felt like I had the "The Force" and all I had to do was think about firing the weapon and it would fire!

Bottom line... The PT1911 has one heck of a trigger and I have some work to do on my pair of CZ-52's. I never shot my Taurus .45 as good as I did today!

That happens all the time with me. After shooting a kahr or beretta you realise the value of a good SA trigger. I would turn down a DA/SA pistol that can hold 3 times as many rounds because I know I would be more effective with the 1911 because of its trigger.

To me the trigger is the essence of what makes the 1911 special. I've always wondered why it was not adapted to the more "modern" barrel/slide lockup systems. Any patents are long expired and JMB started development of the HiPower to work around his 1911 patents held by Colt.

And the PT1911 triggers are reported to be a little on the stiff side. Imagine what a $1400 Springfield must feel like.

Hmmmm, haven't seen to many Taurus owners complain about their triggers.

Guys who paid over 1,000 for their 1911 don't seem to like it though...

glad you like it,and thanls for the report, i have handled them only and not been able to drop the hammer on one. so for folks like me that is much appreciated. don't you just love it when you have a great day at the range and fall in love with one of your guns all over again?

I definitely like mine better than my old $600 Springfield. It's not like having a professional trigger job, but it is a very nice trigger, especially considering the Series 80 firing pin block.

Actually, I've shot my buddy's PT1911 and while I think the trigger is nice, he thinks it is not as good as the one on his Kimber. YMMV.

I am sold on it but waiting on a stainless 9mm version before I jump in.

I was sold on the PT1911 when the guy in the shop let me dry-fire the Rock Island I was going to buy, then dry-fire the Taurus. I squeezed the trigger, smiled, looked at him and said thanks, I'll take it.

of course not but look at the lenghts that taurus has gone, look at all you get for that price point.there aren't any other 1911 makers that i know of that give you that kinda options and upgrades for that price. even if you get the taurus and get a trigger job on it. you will still be less than a kimber.

I agree 100%. I am definitely not downing the Taurus as both that I've owned have been really good firearms. I am just giving you my buddy's opinion as I have yet to own a 1911 but I'll take care of that once the stainless 9mm version arrives.

yeah i am thinking about the ss .40 model with 4" barrel but i am sure that will be way down the road.

wait until you shoot your PT1911 for awhile. My trigger is starting to wear in and it feels nicer every time I shoot it.
