Remember the old Saturday Night Live skit where Dan Akroyd and what's her name did a take off on the then CBS 60 Minutes Point/Counterpoint- and Akroyd would always start his half of the debate with "Jane, you ignorant slut.................................".

Perfect line (name change only) for Dole to open with.:D

NEW YORK — Former President Bill Clinton and his opponent in the 1996 presidential election, Bob Dole, will debate national issues in a series of segments for the CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes.

Clinton and Dole have agreed to tape 10 segments, which will begin airing Sunday night. Their commitment does not extend beyond the end of the current television season, but CBS executives said the network would consider extending the segment next season.

The segments will revive the "Point-Counterpoint" segments popular until they stopped airing in 1979, but will not use the name. Instead, the segments will be called "Clinton/Dole" one week and "Dole/Clinton" the next week.

Executive producer Don Hewitt said the planned format calls for one debater to pick a topic and write a 45-second script that would be faxed to his opponent. The response would also be 45 seconds. After the initial arguments, the first debater would get 15 seconds to rebut, followed by a final 15 seconds from the opponent.

Clinton said he hoped the debate would allow thoughtful commentary.

"I see this as an opportunity to try to have a really civil debate that enlightens people on the issues," Clinton told The New York Times.

Dole told the Times the two men would "have some fun" while getting into issues roiling the country.

Producers of 60 Minutes hope the debate between the former president and former Senate majority leader will boost ratings. The show has been in the top 10 for the past 20 years, but its popularity dropped recently, with the loss of about a million viewers in the last year.

Clinton's bagging $1 million for that series of 45 SECOND spots on See BS.

Maybe he'll do for that network what he did for the Democrat party.... :p

Did anyone ever see Bob Dole when he was a commentator on the Daily Show on Comedy Central (before it became a democratic mouthpiece)?

He had a bit on the Republican Convention where he said "The Convention here is so boring that some of the protesters went out and got jobs."

LMAO!

He's a pretty funny guy. I wouldn't put it past him to pull out the 'Bill, you ignorant slut." jab at the top of his first rebutal. Now that would be something.
