Often overlooked affiliated clubs are veterans organizations like the VFW and American Legion. That's how I qualified.

Additionally, as a veteran, a copy of your DD214 is sufficient proof for the shooting requirement.

It's EASY to buy a rifle from CMP if you're a veteran and belong to the VFW or American Legion. I managed to gather all the necessary paperwork in a single morning and had my first order in the mail the same day.

They also keep your paperwork on file so you don't have to resend it each time.

VFW does qualify you? I was unsure of that... This could be interesting.

First time to CMP last weds. At Camp Perry. I purchased 2 M1 Garands...The man asked me if he could ask why I was buying...for collecting....shooting...? I said first its historical, you see my Dad fought in WWII, an .....enough said...because he started tearing them down to inspect them...they were so respectful of these rifles an all of them were the best people. I also bought a new CMP stock, an 5 cans of ammo, 3 with clips at 75.00 per 192 rds, an 2 at 86.00 per 240 rds. I gave them a copy of my birth certificate, GCA membership card, drivers liscense, an my handgun permit.....even got to talk to a couple of vets that carried the M1 in the service....great day.
