CMP, Good News, Bad News

The good news is that the CMP got my application (first ever CMP attempt for me) and everything is in order.

The good news is that I am now on the wait list for a Service Grade M1.

The bad news is that I have no idea how long it will take. 3 weeks? 3 months?

Sigh.

mine took 2.5 weeks, but only because i requested a WWII serial number.

i ordered mine last october right before they had the extended delays. that's the only thing keeping me from ordering another.

My order was recieved on the 16th, I think. Shipping date is still TBD.

It's going to be six months, isn't it?

You can post threads on the CMP forums and ask people who are getting their rifles now, when they ordered theirs. You can get pretty close to guessing your ship date using that method.

Be patient, it's worth it......and addictive. You'll start ordering more rifles and ammo from CMP just so you can wait for the BWT if you're not careful.

A buddy of mine slipped an order in just under the wire the last time they stopped taking SG orders and it took about 4 weeks for them to ship.

Heck, my first CMP rifle took 9 months (1997) and my second (the short lived "select grade" option) took 18 months.

I ordered my racker in july and it took 1.5 weeks. I'm glad I got one when I could. The tution increase this year really killed the budget.

How do you know when your order is recieved and or accepted? Do they send an e-mail to you? Is there a link on their site that I can track my order with?

I sent my order in on Tuesday, so maybe they recieved already. I'll have to go find the tracking number to check the status. When should I start contacting them. Waiting for a gun and receiver to show up is not fun, its kind of like waiting to find out what you got for Christmas when you were a kid.

They will send you an email telling you that your order was received. Then you begin to wait. They don't recommend trying to get in touch with them for three weeks. Just be patient with them. The CMP does a great job..the wait will be worth it!
