GARAND CMP Problems

You do realize the CMP has no more Service Grades or even Field Grades?

I don't know what they are saying on the website, but I was in the South Store today (Thurs, 22 Feb) and they had a good number of Danish Field Grades on the store racks that were not there a while back when I bought my (Greek) field grade. No more Greek field grades, though, unless I missed them once I got all focused in on a Danish field grade with a serial number in the 70,000 range.

Also had Greek and Danish rack grades, woodless Dane rack grades, and a small number of IHC and H&R Garands for $600 apiece (not sure on their grade, but I'd guess field grade from the condition).

There were also two M1 Carbines on the counter. Not for sale yet, apparently, but they looked good. Prominent Italian cartouches on the stocks, but they looked mechanically very nice (I didn't get to fondle them, so that assessment is without a real detailed examination).

Thanks for the carbine comments. I like what I am hearing about them. I am a bit concerned about the pricing though. We'll see. Got another month or two now.

Whatever service and field grades are left are in the stores. There are not enough rifles to take orders for, so the stores are the only place to find them.

Folks, I was in the South store about 2 weeks ago. The Danes FG are very good. I wasn't expecting to buy another Garand, (I puchased a Greek FG just a month before.) but when I measured the ME 1+ and then the TE 2, I was sold. Did I mention that it also had a VAR barrel on it. Yes, I did have to go to the store and pick it out, but that was part of the fun. I was sent to Birmingham on business, it so happens business was good on that Saturday at the CMP.
