This makes no sense... you need to edit your procedure to include putting the weapon on fire. Also every time you pull the op rod all the way to the rear on a garand, it locks back. So you need to push the follower down and release the bolt before it will move forward.

Yes, oversight on my part.

Final response to those who blamed it on my trigger milking or bump fire..
The trigger group was sent back to CMP with an overnight Fedex label supplied by CMP. That was about a week ago. Yesterday the T.G. arrived with no note of what was done. It could have been replaced for all I know or fixed.
I fired 4 clips of 06' at the range today using my trigger squeezing technique as I have been taught.
There were NO doubles or instances of full auto fire.
If your Garand doubles, you have a problem with your gun.

Millions of these rifles were produced as quickly as possible and pressed into service all over the world with universal acclaim. They gave remarkable service in 2 wars with very very few malfunctions.
If your CMP rifle is doubling the first thing to check is YOU. 80% of the time, or more, a shooter who is used to shooting a bolt action rifle from a bench is the problem. NOT the rifle.
