looking on these boards, I've discovered that I was born too late, as someone could apparently buy an m1 garand for $300 or less 10 years ago :(

how often does the CMP raise it's prices? I understand it's due to dwindling supply, but how often does it really change? the service grades now are about $600 - what do you think they'll be in a year? how about 3 years?? Really I'm just curious as I'm reluctant to buy a gun now that I found out I'm getting laid off, and I'm really worried about the future.

Well if you can afford to now is the time to buy as CMP prices will only go up. Even with a depression I bet their prices will not dip. They are offering truly the last great bargain in the industry.

anyone else? I'm really trying to decide if i should wait to get one until my finances are more stable (I can afford one now though), or wait. but I'm definitely not wanting to pay $100 extra after waiting a year!

They have pretty much stayed in price for the last 5 yrs.

I installed a Schuster Adjustable Plug on this one, now sighted with Winchester 150 gr Power Point.

I bought 2 rack grades at the south store 2 years ago today for $295 each.:what:

I ordered a Service Grade SA from CMP two weeks before Christmas but haven't heard anything since... from reading the CMP forum, it looks like there was a large post-election ordering frenzy and the orders are at least 2 months between order and delivery. I don't know how many they have left, but when you are waiting for one, the worst scenarios come to mind. Please CMP! Keep one for me! :)

First price I remember from DCM on Garands was $94 or $148 for national match grade. I missed out on the $20 dollar Carbines and .45's they had a few years before that.

Hope the prices don't get too crazy for a CMP Garand. Here in Jersey a Garand in good shape that's store bought one will run you between $1,200 to $1,500.

if $$ is a major concern, maybe you should get the FG. I have 2, they may not look as good as an SG, but they function extremly well and are accurate. You can always replace the beat up stock later when $$ are in better supply.

I dont think supply is ever going to be better than it is now. If you can afford it, buy one now, in a year or 2 if you need to sell it, you can prolly sell it for a profit.
