Has anyone ordered anything from the CMP lately? I recently ordered an M1 Garand and am wondering what the turnaround is. Says 30-60 days on their website, do they normally take that long?

Back in the spring of this year, my CMP Service Grade Springfield Garand took 32 days to come. I believe it is still an average wait time, though I'm sure the holidays may slow things down a bit.

There is an ongoing thread at the CMP Garand Forum where folks track their order times and the "milestones" that occur during processing of the order. That would be a good place for you to start:

By the way - great choice on getting a Garand from the CMP. You will not be dissaponted!

Here's a photo of my $625 CMP Service Grade Springfield Garand all cleaned up to make your wait a little harder! ;) It came with a 1944 receiver, like-new 1954 Springfield barrel, and new CMP black walnut.

Ordered my Springfield service grade in mid November and just received shipping confirmation.

Nice looking rifle Fishbed!!

I put the envelop in the mail on the 12th, just got the email this afternoon acknowledging my order. Now it goes to sales, from there to shipping, etc.....says in the email to expet at least 30-60 days. Kind of like a tax stamp I guess, you just put it in the mail and forget about it.

Not counting collectable rifles like the recent sale of the rifles with 6 million serial numbers, it had been running a month or less.

But, not sure with the recent events.

In 2009, wait times were 3 months or more.
