CNN played a clip of Barack Obama saying "unlike our current president I understand the constitution,I was a constitutional law professor".
Yeah let me tell ya he sure loves the 2nd amendment:rolleyes: Disscuss

And then watch the laughtrack go nuts when he mentions that "collective right" lie.

I think he has about as much understanding as Bush does. Neither one have respect for the Constitution, it is just a matter of which rights they choose to attack.

For the Republicans, they don't like the 1st and the 4th. For the Democrats, its the 2nd.

A large number of republicans also don't support the 2nd. Either way both parties are in it for themselves. Though I trust the Republicans the least.

Obama said "I was a constitutional law professor" on CNN. I do believe he was a lecturer at the Univ. of Chicago and not a full professor, but as with most politicians, he plays loose with the facts so he can inflate himself.

I have heard him quoted discussing the 2nd, and he said - "hunters have nothing to fear from me".... go figure.

During Barack Obama's short political career, he has earned the absolute lowest gun rights ratings humanly possible.
While he has avoided the topic in the last couple of years, he is generally considered to believe that private gun possession should be outlawed.
He has sometimes served as a pointman for Rich Daley's anti-gun rights legislation in the Illinois Senate.
There is no one worse available on the national scene for gun rights.
And not even Hillary Clinton can exceed his lack of knowledge of the US Constitution.
Bill

My vote is for......Duncan Hunter.....A+ rated from the NRA.:D I realize Duncan will never make it, but I like what he stands for.

Every time I hear Osama speak I think of the old test for how to tell is a Politician is lying.....his/her mouth is moving....

Its a disgrace what the country has become... 2nd amendment should not be messed with in any way...going by these peoples mentality would be like saying...if cars kill people why bother trying to make em safe lets just ban em

glockman19

Actually Edwards is PRO 2A.
Are you talking about John Edwards, former Vice Pres. candidate?
Hahahahahahaha! Thats funny!

I believe the right to bear arms is protected by the Second Amendment. I also support reasonable measures to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, including closing the gun show loophole and vigorously enforcing gun laws.
Q: How will your gun stance play among Southern voters?

EDWARDS: I grew up in the rural South. Everyone around me hunted, everyone had guns. I respect and believe in people's Second Amendment rights. That does not, however, mean that somebody needs an AK-47 to hunt. It does not mean that somebody who's been convicted of a violent crime should be able to walk out of prison, walk across the street and buy a gun. It does not mean that we shouldn't take every step that we can take to keep guns safe and keep guns out of the hands of kids. So, my belief is, first, I defend people's Second Amendment rights, but I don't think it's without limit.
Q: What federal gun control measures you would propose?

EDWARDS: I think we should extend the Brady Bill, which is set to expire. I think that we need to close forever the gun-show loophole, [to avoid criminals] buying a gun. I think it does make sense to have trigger locks for the purpose of keeping guns safe from children.

Are you talking about this John Edwards?

Oh, I get it. You're talking about that psychic guy that talks to dead people!

Obama might have been a Constitutional Law professor-- but have you ever taken a look at a Constitutional Law text- or casebook? The Constitution, if it's reproduced at all, appears, heavily abridged, as Appendix F. Reading the document itself might give students the wrong idea.

John Edwards was recently quoted as saying " I support the Second Ammendment, people should be allowed to own guns to hunt with". THE SECOND AMMENDMENT IS NOT ABOUT HUNTING! What is it with these idiots?

John Edwards is pro 2-A? Yeah right! I'll believe that when pigs fly! Based on his voting record and the statements he has made in the past, Edwards is no better than Hillary or Barack, public enemy number one! Saying Edwards is pro 2-A is laughable at best. What rock have you been living under?

I believe the right to bear arms is protected by the Second Amendment.

Nothing wrong with that statement.

I also support reasonable measures to keep guns out of the hands of criminals

I agree, Don't you?

closing the gun show loophole

DO NOT AGREE

vigorously enforcing gun laws.

Great.

I grew up in the rural South. Everyone around me hunted, everyone had guns. I respect and believe in people's Second Amendment rights.

Again Pro 2A statement.

That does not, however, mean that somebody needs an AK-47 to hunt.

I hunt with an a-bolt 30-06, .308, 7mm and I'll kill more game than anyone hunting with an AK or AR. Plus I'd use an AK for two legged varments they're made for in time of crisis NOT wild game.

It does not mean that somebody who's been convicted of a violent crime should be able to walk out of prison, walk across the street and buy a gun.

Again keeping guns out of the hands of criminals nothing wrong with that and vigoursly enforcing laws will put the guy back in jail if he get one or uses one.

It does not mean that we shouldn't take every step that we can take to keep guns safe and keep guns out of the hands of kids.

Children are irresponsible and can't drive or vote they should keep guns out of the hands of children unless supervised by an adult. What's wrong with that?

So, my belief is, first, I defend people's Second Amendment rights, but I don't think it's without limit.

I agree and believe he will defend the 2nd Amandment.

I think we should extend the Brady Bill, which is set to expire. I think that we need to close forever the gun-show loophole, [to avoid criminals] buying a gun.

I DO NOT AGREE but I agree it's important to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

I think it does make sense to have trigger locks for the purpose of keeping guns safe from children.

I don't think he's all wrong. S&W is putting locks on new models of their revolvers just for this purpose. Jr. can not shoot his friend playing around if dad has the key and it's locked. small price to pay for child safety.

Hey Redneck with a 40, just saw a flying pig...I shot it. Makin' bakin'

The candidate you're all looking for who says that everyone should have any gun they want regardless of criminal history, mental illness or any other personal display of not being able to controll him/her self doesn't exist, Democrat, republican, libertarian, or other.

You mean Obama and not Osama? Because its pretty sad that you have to result to childish name calling and have no adult arguments to use against Obama.

I have no doubt the Obama would gleefully violate our freedom from search and seizure as well as possibly self-incrimination and other rights if Congress ever gives him the green light to grab all the ARs and AKs and other goodies in the country and melt 'em down. Undoubtedly he knows that he will be trashing the BOR while he does it so I don't think he cares that he's breaking Constitutional law while he does it. Did he explicitly say that he will strictly abide by Constitutional law while president on CNN, Fox, etc?

Forget gun locks. Kids would be a heck of a lot safer if Dad did not have a gun. Nobody needs a gun. The police are there to protect Dad and the kids, so Dad doesn't need one for that purpose. The grocery is there to sell Dad good, wholesome meat, so Dad doesn't need to hunt. What's wrong with that?

Kids really are irresponsible. We need to protect them.

Kids find alcohol in Dad's house, drink the alcohol and make themselves ill. Dad should not have alcohol in the house until the kids move out. If the kids get married and bring their kids to vist, Dad should get rid of the alcohol.

Kids find Dad's car keys and take Dad's car for joyrides, smash into lightposts or drive off the road or kill pedestrians. Dad should not have a car.

Kids drink or spill poisonous stuff from under the sink or in the bathrooms. Dad should not have poisonous stuff. Or sinks. Or bathrooms.

Kids should not have Dads. What's wrong with that?

I am honestly considering drafting a letter to all the potential candidates. A letter that clearly states my intent on voting the issue. Not issues, as to me at this point there is only one issue to worry about. I will simply state, that based on stance and track record I will cast my vote for the candidate that is best suited to protect and restore our 2A rights.

Not that they would care, but the one that does....

Wow! I can't believe someone on this board would actually defend John Edwards (AKA The Breck Girl) as being pro 2A.

But hey, John Kerry is pro 2A too. He crawls through the swamp on his belly hunting deer with a shotgun, and he said "I need to get me a huntin' license.

Sarah Brady is pro 2A too! She bought a bolt action hunting rifle for her son!
I mean the 2A is after all, all about hunting.

I guess if you look at it that way, Johnny boy is pro 2A!:barf:

Glockman - John Edwards is not pro-2a. He's a gun grabber who talks the game better than most since he has a Southern accent.

The proof is here.
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/L...ote_cfm.cfm?congress=108&session=2&vote=00024

To provide for a 10-year extension of the assault weapons ban (Feinstein)
Edward a- Yea

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/L...ote_cfm.cfm?congress=108&session=2&vote=00025

To require criminal background checks on all firearms transactions occurring at events that provide a venue for the sale, offer for sale, transfer, or exchange of firearms, and for other purposes. (McCain)
Edwards - Yea

To expand the definition of armor piercing ammunition and to require the Attorney General to promulgate standards for the uniform testing of projectiles against body armor. (Kennedy's 30-30 ban)
Edwards - Missed vote

All three of those votes were the same day.
