CNN using heller to scare people about internet sales

I saw the same thing this morning and mentioned it on this thread:
Heller Decided! http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=4639153&posted=1#post4639153

"I just saw a CNN segment talking about it, and they went straight to internet sales about guns and the ruling. Their lackey claimed "internet sales are not monitored" and the internet sales "are more underground" and anyone can just buy a gun over the internet. I like how they failed to mention that all federal laws must be followed."

ETA: Did not know this thread had been started at the time.

They even had a clip of Feinstein stating how unsafe DC is now.
I can see this spin being developed fast to highlight all future violent crime as a direct result.

Do not forget to remind everyone that DC has had the highest per capita violent crime for a good 30 years now.
I doubt it will suddenly vanish overnight.

The best part of this will be watching the drop in violent crime and murder that will occur in Washington DC....starting tomorrow. Wonder what they'll say then.
Considering DC has one of the highest prohibited persons numbers in the nation a large segment of the population cannot just go purchase the arms.

There is also no place to buy pistols in DC right now (legaly.)

The only change this will have really soon in DC is that people no longer have to lock thier long guns up disassembled and can have them ready for self defense in the home.

The report was full of lies.I wish it was that easy to buy a firearm online.

It is just an attempt to close the one source the people of DC have.

Currently an FFL could recieve firearms in DC and transfer them to the purchaser. There is no store fronts to buy firearms from though, and the city is going to make it very difficult for stores or ranges to exist.
So the easiest way to get firearms would be from the internet (or ordered over the phone), transfered to an FFL where they would then have to go through the same federal process as anyone else in the nation to obtain them from the FFL.

They make it sound like you can just mail order a firearm.

They neglect that it can only be transfered to an FFL when crossing state lines. Which means it would be no different than purchasing one in person at a gun shop because they would still have to go to the FFL and go through the same steps.

Lies and fear mongering to try to close the only source of firearms for DC residents and keep them from excercising thier new freedom (which still requires an FFL.)
That would of course effect internet purchases for the entire United States.
Internet purchases are currently subject to federal and state laws, so the motive to restrict them further is obviously sinister and serves no legit purpose even in the mind of someone misguided.

Gonna be interesting to see how the San Fran ban, Chicago and others get challenged and turn out. I understand NRA filed suit concerning those and others today but I have no proof of that.

San Francisco's ban was already overturned by CA court on Jan 9th. The CA DOJ/Attorney General positioning themselves in law as the supreme authority on gun control matters meant the city was infringing on thier turf.

State law supported that position.

The clash resulted in an ironic pro gun victory because state gun control has to be handled in specific ways under CA law.

The court said the city ordinance would interfere with an elaborate system of gun regulation enacted by the Legislature.

Essentialy two anti gun forces collided in state law destroying the city's gun ban.
Various people and the NRA were responsible for bringing the conflicts to light and fighting the case.

They even had a clip of Feinstein stating how unsafe DC is now.

I guess she will have to renew her concealed carry permit.:D She sounds like Mayor Daley in Chicago. Even though he acknowledged that Chicago's ban on handguns has been ineffective, He said he will do everything possible to keep it in place. He also went on to say that taxes will need to be raised to hire extra police and that health care costs will rise because of the impending increase in "gun violence". I tell ya, There's nothing like a victory for Americans, to send the left wing loons right over the edge. .

Just wait: there will be reports for weeks (as soon as news of Heller is forgotten by the populace and the fact that it was the case beforehand, too) about the "highest in the country" violence rate in DC, and blame it on the striking of the gun ban.
