I have a Cobray M12 in 380 that I would like some help in dating/ year of mfg..
I cant seem to find any information on serial numbers except that the first 2 digits were typically year of mfg??
This gun has a stamped number of..
12-00061XX Marked..

Cobray M12 cal 380 a.c.p.
SWD Incorporated
Atlanta GA U.S.A.

I sold this to my neighbor in about 2001 and I purchased used at a local GS years before that. So cant be a 2012 or 1912 therefore i have nada.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I don't believe there is any data base for the Cobray firearms. Could be wrong, been wrong before. Just curious, if you sold it, why are you seeking the DOM.

That's what I was going to suggest too.
( Model + year 2000 date. )

Sounds reasonable, noting the date it was bought, sold, bought, and sold again.

Most folks didn't keep Cobray's around very long.

M12s were post ban versions made for the 1994 Clinton era AWB. SWD/,LIENAD all owned by the same people(Daniels). They removed the threads on the barrel. They were a closed bolt semi-auto version of the M11(.380) SMG.

If it is lacking barrel threads it was probably made sometime between 1994-2004,I'm sure there is some carry over past 2004,as they started to make them with threaded barrels again once the AWB sunset clause kicked in.

The 2000 date could be correct, sounds plausible.
