Maybe I was exaggerating a bit. By "can't hit the side of a barn", I really meant my accuracy goes down dramatically with double action. I know the problem is my short finger can't reach well enough to get good leverage. My trigger finger is completely extended; there's no leverage. I don't have Jerry Miculek's grip strength, but I hand is probably stronger than most people my size. I'm the official tight jar lid opening in my family. So, when I practice shooting fast from 10 yards, my single action shots would put the bullet right between the bad guy's imaginary shirt pocket. He would be dead for sure. My same quick shots with double action are still hits, but would put the bullet on the shoulder or outside the pockets--no stopping power.
I am almost convinced I need a alternate pistol for SD. I've heard good things about the Bersa. But they don't offer in 9x18. They offer in 380, which is very expensive caliber for me because I shoot alot.
