I’m looking into getting additional insurance to protect my firearms from theft, as my homeowners insurance only covers firearms losses up to $1000. I considered adding a rider to my homeowners insurance and while the amount charged was only about $8 per $1000 of coverage, they do require an appraisal of the firearms by a third party before they will offer the policy to me. Therefore I started looking around, and have found both the NRA's ArmsCare program and Collectibles Insurance Services.
I’ve generally read good things about Collectibles Insurance (http://www.collectinsure.com/) and their rates are much better than the NRA’s ArmsCare insurance policy. I’ve read generally good things about both of them but I didn’t know if anyone on THR had experiences with them. I’m especially interested in how they handle a claim, since that’s where the proverbial “rubber meets the road.” Anybody have any experiences with them?
