Defence is the correct spelling in Australian English, and I am an Australian. For the rest of it, see my posting above. Note I am in a country where university is basically free, students go into it straight from school and can receive welfare payments while studying. This creates a different social dynamic. I admit it was wrong for me to apply my experiences here to your situation there.

I don't think the financial situations between countries are too terribly dissimilar. There are plenty of immature US college students.

That said, I think that those who are immature are generally unlikely to be willing to jump through the hoops required to get a carry permit.

I teach part time at a local community college, and find the blanket prohibition on concealed carry to be quite ridiculous, especially given that the ban applies to not only the immature, but those who would be responsible. After all, a significant portion of my students tend to have a military background, or are non-traditional students who are returning to school to learn new skills or make a career change.

That's likely to be the body of students who are going to take the time to acquire a permit.

John Stossel is a born-again Constitutionalist. I respect that man. He is one of the fews exception of 2A and freedom loving American in the mass medias.

But, it is ultimately up to us all, young and old, to fight for our rights. And this is one of that.
