Sorry, Bruce, but we won't "get used to it."

Zero disrespect intended, but frankly, "No thanks."

"Haven't you worked out yet that you are societally unacceptable because you own firearms??"

No, in a word. Film at 11.

Sent him a polite inquiry/e-mail yesterday - no reply as yet.

& this Sheriff is a member of our local Second Amendment Sisters.

The gent shows promise, all told, & I'm just waiting to hear what he has to say about this whole mess. Will post his reply, if received.

BTW folks, introducing fivetoes, be a good idea to listen to what he has to say. A keeper in my book.

(& I thought Tom would be first asking about reloading for his .243 handgun .... ;) )

Hi Bruce,
Does Australia have a Second Amendment? We do up here and it is a basic human right that our founders thought was a principle worth fighting for.

I don't think I am going to get used to it either. ':fire:'

Visit the Sheriff, don't write him

Fivetoes: If I may make a suggestion. Call and make an appointment with the Sherrif.

I think you will get much farther, and get more information, sitting face-to-face with the Sherrif than writing a letter -- espcially any letter that is more than a single page.

Sit down with the man and ask him what this is all about, and what is causing it.

Guntalk,

First things first, no?

A letter, if no response a phone call & if still unacceptable, a visit.

Some of us seem to have a bit of pull, if that, to direct the mood.

Nice thing about an e-mail response is that it can be posted toot sweet for everyone to see .....

Welcome aboard, fivetoes! Howya been, amigo?

I'll add to labgrade's advice on our buddy: Give him the E. F. Hutton treatment.

Sorry, guys, from where you're sitting, you obviously couldn't see the look on my face while I was typing that letter.

With all due respect, this type of thing IS going to happen more and more -- sooner or later. And as much as you and I might like to deny it, we ARE the minority. And if you think firearms ownership is not becoming societally unacceptable, go and sit on your front porch (in public view) and start cleaning one of your rifles -- and see how long it is before the SWAT team arrives. (I used to do precisely that 25 years ago in a country town -- and the cops would wave as they drove past ---- but now, well ... I wouldn't even consider it.)

What I'm saying is, I guess, is that you need to change society's attitude BEFORE things get to this point. For example, most people I speak to here have no problem whatsoever with us being on the CrimTrac database -- because "gun owners need to be tracked to protect police and the general public".

It's that attitude that lets the petty Hitlers get away with databases and registration and safe storage and prohibitions on calibre or capacity or barrel length .......................

Hi Bruce,
Does Australia have a Second Amendment?

No.

I can't argue, Bruce.

& that's all I have to say.

Working it, at our level.

A bit disconcerting, to say the least.

Still no reply from My Sheriff.

He's usually better than this.
