Colorado to introduce Assault Weapons ban including semi-auto pistols & shotguns

My wife loves Colorado, I do not. It’s a shame because it is a beautiful state that I have enjoyed since moving here 35 years ago but I am having a tough time trying to tolerate being governed by people that champion and celebrate “reproductive rights” also known as the ability to kill a kid right up to the time of its birth and then talk out of the other side of their face by touting gun control to keep our children safe, the same children that they fight tooth and nail for the right to kill if mom doesn’t want them. These people really couldn’t be more screwed up if I drew them with a crayon.

Anyway, I think I have my wife on board with moving back to what I call my home stomping grounds in the heartland areas of the country where people have a sense of good and decency.

My personal opinion is that this bill is a Soup Sandwich. They're stuffing everything they can into it and then somebody's going to go over it for legal and take out the stuff that they absolutely know won't pass muster

Almost the same bill, word for word, that just was signed into Illinois law. Almost exact. Wonder which anti organization is providing this legislative "template," ready to be signed and submitted by willing legislators in any number of states.

The ATF would have nothing to do with enforcing Colorado law as they are federal enforcement, so not surprising. Now if one was smoking a joint (legal in Colorado, not federally) and possessing a firearm, those ATF agents might get friendly with that person.

I'm betting much of the Sheriff's in the state will refuse to enforce as well as they are bound to the constitution. It would be the police force hired and maintained by a liberal mayor that one would have to worry about.
ATF cooperates with local authorities all the time. I'm surprised they didn't drop a dime and have the state police come in. Open lawbreaking isn't normally tolerated by federal law enforcement.

Except it’s not breaking laws in accordance to their jurisdiction. Do the state police “drop a dime” to the feds when they see marijuana being smoked in Colorado? No, because it’s not breaking any state laws. And yet the state police cooperate with federal agencies too.

Looks to me that they are both agreeing to stay in each of their respected lanes.

I don't know the limits of what the ATF enforces and doesn't enforce. I do know that there is an ATF office off of Bijou Street just East of Academy in Colorado Springs.

Their parking lot was one of my nightly checks at my last assignment

I was going to say, they just got us here. Looks very similar. They have infinite money, deep pockets. We're basically founded by real working stiffs giving what they can to ISRA, etc. No, it isn't fair. Many sheriffs are coming out immediately and won't enforce it. Prickster is threatening the jobs of those who won't abide this unconstitutional act.

Crazy times. We're weighing options, looking to see how the courts weigh the incoming legal challenges.

I won't be registering any of my legally bought privately owned items. Depending on how it all shakes out, we may be upgrading considerably and moving north, south, east, or west...any direction is better than Illinois.

We stay for family, but I won't be a felon because of garbage like this.

As usual, the main goal is to turn anyone that doesn't go along with their agenda into a criminal whose rights and opinions are to be disregarded among the good people.
Guns are just an excuse to them... .
"They" tried to do the same for the First Amendment and failed - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...nysrpa-v-bruen-decision.913941/#post-12511618

Mob rule to impose on the rights of the minority is not new ... Remember that slavery and women kept from voting were "legal" not too long ago just because "majority" of population wanted it ... Like how the "majority" want to take away guns from minority gun owners? ;)

Thankfully "We the People" saw the imposition of mob rule on these minority groups and corrected the injustices with Bill of Rights amendments with the Supreme Court keep telling the states laws they passed were unconstitutional and finally permanent federal enforcements were put in place - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...with-question-on-the-second-amendment.856201/

"The original Constitution now includes 27 amendments passed by the 'We the People' ... 'We the People' amended the Constitution, ... to fix the injustices... improved the Constitution, made it a better document. And that is the proper process to do that"

"They" are now hammering on the rights of minority gun owners ... I guess core nature of some people wanting to impose on the rights of others don't change even after 240 years ... :p

And like the attack on the First Amendment, they will once again fail ... Because the Second Amendment is not a "second class right" and like the First Amendment, it will be an enduring right of the people.

Like so many "minority rights" battles of past century where the issues went nationwide, gun owners rights is probably the next "minority rights" fight - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...r-aw-magazine-ban.905531/page-9#post-12404072

I think the gun issue just hangs out there, disconnected from anything else. For example, I can't discern a connection between universal health care, and gun bans. Let's not be finding conspiracies under every rock.

Let me help.

Can you discern a connection between the First Amendment and the Second Amendment?

Both are rights "universally" applied to any citizen whether in the majority or the minority.

And justice Thomas stated the Second Amendment is not a "second class right".

The Colorado bill is almost word for word the same bill that Illinois just passed. In the hours before passage, the Illinois State Senate attempted to water down some portions of the bill but Bloomberg's "Evey Town group" and "Mom's Demand Action" applied pressure. The Senate caved and adopted the house version.
Now the lawsuits in Illinois will begin. I fear Colorado will suffer the same fate.

Well, let's just say I'm more interested than I was a few days ago.
Hedge your bets. Buy a black powder (percussion) wheel gun. In fact, forestall the antigunners even further. Stock up on flintlocks, and swords. It will take them a while to get around to those.

I already did, long ago.
I bought my first cap-and-ball revolver back before I could buy a 'real' firearm... .
I was 18 years old and ordered my Ruger Old Army from Gil Hebard in Illinois. Because I was in Califroniastan, I was supposed to wait until I was 21 to do so.

The closer we approach the economic collapse and the rejection of the petro-dollar as the world's reserve currency, the more desperate the globablist become for disarmament of the public. After all, an armed populace is incompatible with a police state.

We in Colorado should begin recall measures against anybody who votes for the restrictions. Two were recalled and one resigned in lieu of being recalled. Politicians don't care about phone calls, letters or protests. They only care about being unseated during a reelection or being recalled.
