I have an 1883 Colt 12Ga sbs Damascus bbls. I am trying to restore it back to working condition. I cant find the missing parts but will make them if i can get any sort of specs that are close. Here is what I need ...

Sear Springs (2) and screws.
Action spring
Main Spring (2)
Front Screw for Trigger Plate assembly.
Rear Screw for Trigger Plate assembly (current one is very damaged, maybe can rebuild).
Lock Cover screw.

I can certainly make the screws once I figure out the threads .. not to hard there. The sear springs, action spring and main springs are a real mystery. My schematic shows what they look like but I cant get a clue as to size. If anyone has that info or has that gun and would do a "take off" for me I would really appreciate it. For the springs I need width, thickness and lengths. The main springs are "v" and if you could lay the springs in a scanner and send me their outlines along with miced (sp?) sizes I could go to work making them and fitting. This was great granddads gun and someone really screwed it up "smithing" on it.

Thanks in advance for any help or advise on obtaining parts.

Darn right on Damascus

You're right ATMAY ... but I am a gunsmith :) ... (notice I left off the "competent part" .. I hate to brag).

I'll try Brownells techs. I didnt' think they would have any advise on older guns and would be tied up all day answering questions on modern miltary type guns which everyone seems to like these days.

Meanwhile .. if anyone can get a spec on the main springs I can do a "build and try" on the action and sears and make them work ok. I think the mains have a special ball on the end that locks them in place but i cant see all the way inside the receiver to figure it out. I need one of them new fandangled fiber optic camers.

Well that's good, just wanted to make sure everyone stayed safe here. Good luck with your project, then!
