I have a colt 1911 sn. 266,000. On the left side it says pat.apr.20,1897, sept.9 1902, dec.19 1905, feb. 14 1911. Colts pt.f.a.l f g co. Hartford ct.usa united states property. On the other side it says model of 1911 us army . It is nickel plated. What can any one tell me about this gun if it was a officers dress gun or what. And if it is $$$$$ any thing. Than you for your time. Sebring

Welcome to THR

I remember that during the occupation of Japan some of the units had their 1911 nickled or chromed. If you can get letters to prove that it was done then vs after the war the value is quite nice.
