Does Colt no longer manufacture 1911? As in like all new Colt 1911 pistols will be leftovers manufactured 4 or 5 years ago when they stopped production.... I heard this from someone but I dont believe it. He said if you buy a new Colt its a 1911 that was made in like 2004 or earlier or something like that. They dont make a 1911 in 2008 or next year etc...

This true or bullpoop?

I seem to recall reading some where colt no longer makes 1911's because too many other companies were putting out 1911's at better prices with better upgrades.

bullpoop to question #1, and double-bullpoop to the reply....they still make one of the finest guns on the market, they are still selling every one they make, and they're still assembled individually by one builder....they also have a lower cast/MIM/sintered parts count than most any 1911 on the market......did anyone here bother doing any sort of internet search before either asking such a question, or answering it?

I didnt see anything about any pistols on www.colt.com So a quick answer to your question is yes.

Now they have more than one site these days so I made a mistake but I did read that in a magazine article a few years back.

Now why you would buy one other than for the name is beyond me because
too many other companies were putting out 1911's at better prices with better upgrades.
is a true statement. You could almost get a STI for what colt wants on their guns.

read it in a magazine? Was it National Inquirer? They've never stopped making 1911's since 1911, for cryin' out loud......was it the same magazine that told you spec 1911's won't shoot hollowpoints?

Ha! So you think an STI is a better 1911 than a Colt?? Unless you are talking about the entry-level STI built on a filipino frame and slide, then your price comparison is inaccurate. And if you think the quality of those two are comparable, you should really take a closer look at both. I think things have become a bit clearer now...

You should really look into things a bit more prior to posting doodoo.

You posted a link to a ten-year-old article, from a newspaper in England, which is known to be a left-wing publication, by the way. Good work.

Well Yeah Sti is better than colt. Sti IMO is the best 1911 your gonna get. Colt by no means is junk either.

You mean the Colt they don't make anymore? Maybe you should check out some new Colts (and STI's) before making such pronouncements.....heck, ANY 1911.....

goodfight...perhaps correct, or just another armchair general...he was over on another upgrade/mod thread offering his expertise

The guy that said it is like 40 and been shooting and dealin for years , so he says. Works OFAST every year, tons of guns, and blah blah blah. My cousin in laws boss.

When he told me I didnt buy it, but he keeps up on more gossip than I do. I just wanted to verify from someone. I need a link from a credible source to back up what youre saying or what you say is no better than what he says.

And of course if I would have found something out from searching I would have before posting an almost no brainer on a message board.

Just looking for someone to help me out and show some piece of proof so i can rub it in his face. LOL...Because I cant seem to find anything in writing.

OK, who is suppose to the Troll here? I am confused. Are we bashing a newbe for asking a question, or a Senior member for spreading hearsay?

I have found the article it was an A.P. news article that I have cut from a local news paper. I was partialy wrong with
because too many other companies were putting out 1911's at better prices with better upgrades.
that statement. I likely read that some where else. But the article clearly states colt will quit manufacturing pistols for civilian sales. I never followed the story much after that nor did I really care as I never looked at colt for anything before.

Weisse, I'm mainly trying to stop the flood of dis/mis-information which the esteemed senior member seems determined to keep spouting and defending....but, I think I've made the point well enough that anyone following this thread will see the esteemed senior member is just guessing and badly....
