Ok guys I have seen a couple of these recently and I have a few questions.
1 Is it worth it to buy a colt local price is 800 plus tax?
2 From what I have read these are series 80 guns can I convert them to series 70?
3 Is there a better 9mm commander for the money?
Thanks for the thoughts and tips, and comments guys

I think so

2 From what I have read these are series 80 guns can I convert them to
series 70?

Yes, but I’m not sure why you want to.

3 Is there a better 9mm commander for the money?

I believe that the enhanced Colts are much nicer guns. To me the extra cost is well worth the expense.

Dan Wesson will make what I want
Are you looking for two 1911s?
2. From what I have read these are series 80 guns can I convert them to series 70?
In any case, I would not remove the firing pin safety on a firing pin equipped safety gun. Have you removed the firing pin safety on any of your other, non-1911 style guns, like a Glock or SIG?

One of these might be my next 1911. I like GI-style guns and it would round out my set of Colt 1991s. I've seen them online for around $720. There are 1911s with more features for not much more money, but it depends on what you like in a 1911.

I have 1911s with and without Series 80 parts. I don't see the point in removing them; it doesn't make any real difference in shootability.

My 9mm Commander was made in 1951 . Low serial number,I wouldn't sell for the price of a new one. But I would like a new one and that price I think reasonable . As for the 80 series so what I don't think 10 people out of a 100 could tell difference in trigger. If was a test. Was a lot of to do about nothing back then . I converted a pistol years back and now wish I had not ..

If you're willing to drop nearly $900 on a 9mm of a classic, all-steel JM Browning design, I would rcommend you consider one of the older but pristine Belgian Hi-powers that are floating around in that price range. This would be a gun that would really be something classy and special (versus the new 1991), and increase in value and demand way better than a 1991. You'll probably never get your money (or trade value) back out of the 1991 like you could with a nice Hi-power.

I have had a number of older Colt Commanders and Combat Commanders and the latest versions being made today actually have a number of improved design features and better overall fit and finish than those built way back when. This is my Lightweight Commander in .38 Super that I picked up a couple of years ago and made it into a convertible by adding a drop-in 9mm. barrel assembly and extra 9mm. magazines.

Yeah, it's good to go.

I'm also in love the the new Dan Wesson Valkyrie Commander.

But it's twice as much.

Also consider the Colt Willey Clap commander and the DW CCO.

I love the thumb safety on the WC.
