For some reason, at some unknown time, Colt started putting the front sling swivels back at 6:00 (under the FSB) on their 6920s. From what I understand, they used to be at the much more usable 9:00 spot.

Right now I've got my sling (VTAC) threaded through the FSB itself--but not every sling can do that. Without installing any ninja rail stuff, what are the best options for getting a side-mounted swivel on or near the FSB?

I bought an LE6920 2 weeks ago and it has the swivel at the 9 o'clock. Brand new rifle. Maybe they moved them back.

Anyway... why couldn't you just order the parts for the one on the Colts now... looks to me like the unit is held in place with a big old roll pin. Then you'd have one at 9, right where you want it.

Interesting--I bought my LE6920 2 weeks ago too. Mine has the Magpul MOE bits on it. I wonder if my model comes with a 6:00 swivel because it mates up nicely with the handguard.

Thanks for the link to the original part.

Since you have a MOE handguard you might look at the IWC QD mount, linked below. I've installed them on two ARs and been pleased. I installed toward the delta ring to keep the sling out of the way from a light and forward support hand position. It's an elegant $15 solution. (you do need a QD swivel on the sling, but that's a great addition, too.)
