ok ive been reading up planning on an ar
its apparent most people think the colt 6920 is the best ar-15 out of box
because of all the military standards
my question is what about all the other colt ar-15 models? do they "cut corners?
The Colt LEO models are made to higher standards then the Colt "commercial" models. Basically colt makes the LEO guns to very close to mil-spec standard including the testing, etc. I don't believe they do the same thing on the commercial side. That's why the LEO line is held in higher regard.
I'd look at the S&W M&P AR's as well. I've got a Colt 6920 which is a great rifle...but my S&W M&P 15 is a better rifle. Better fit/finish and it's run about 4000 rounds now without a single issue.
Also make sure you budget in a Ciener .22 conversion...one case of .223 ammo will pay for a Ciener & a bunch of mags.
