title kinda says it all but where is the best place online to get a Colt AR-15 model 6920?

i got my taxes done and have some money to throw down but i dont want to use every dime getting the rifle

so who has the cheapest overall price before i start looking local

im pretty sure i can order and have it shipped to an FFL cheaper than buy local the last actual colt i found here was upwards of 1700

$1200 should be easy to find right now. I think I've seen them as low as $1000 but can't remember where. (Yes, to the general public, not some LE-only discount.)

A quick search showed that $1400 or so seemed to be the norm. Yes, they can be had for less. In fact, I'm sure that if I put some effort into it I could find multiple options for under that price point. As for paying more than that... I wouldn't pay anymore than the standard markup for a given market.

kinda trying to avoid gunbroker most of the auction sites im a bit leary of

i was hoping to see somthing under 1200 but i guess the market is coming back up

I dont' know about the 6920, but my local dealer has 6940's for $1350 if that provides any reference point.

$1249 Delivered from Buds:

edit: I have ordered from policeguns.com - Clydes Armory. Got an HK P2000SK from them. Nice. Fast shipping- this was 2.5yrs ago.

Like Buds the quoted prices are with a 3% cash discount. Seems one must register to see prices, etc on policeguns.com now. But if they still have them for $1069 that is a really solid price!

Strange. I have never registered with them. Sometimes when I click the link I posted I get the page with a price, sometimes I get a page wanting me to sign in.

Very weird.....their website must have issues.

Locally they are at $1299.00. But I know the owner has quite a few. You can probably get it a little lower. They are a young couple and very reasonable. Excellent service also. Here is the link.

My local gunstore sells everything usually around msrp. So if it says $330 for a LMT lower on LMT's website thats what they quote me.

I got a 6920 from them for $1300ish. 1300-1400 is a fair range for that rifle.

This came in an email from CDNN this morning (along with other semi-autos):

Colt 6920 M4A3 AR-15 · 223 · 16" M4 Barrel w/Bird Cage · 2-20rd Mags · LE
Marked on Receiver · 4-Position Collapsible Stock · Detachable
Carry Handle · Bayonet Lug · New
+10 free 20rd thermold mags
#COLLE6920 $1199.99

I totally get that you want a Colt because they are the best but, in my mind unless you want to shoot bullets heavier than 69 grains all the time, the 1/7 twist is just too tight. This twist is utilized in this carbine for serious operators who intend to shoot 77-80 gr. bullets. I don't think the average shooter realizes the full weight of the disadvantages associated with that tight of a twist. Accuracy will suffer with many commercial loads, velocities will be lower and pressure will be higher. In my mind when I go for another carbine I am going for the more appropriate (for me) 1/9 twist which should be more than marginally better with the fabulous 50 gr. Varmint and target loads available. Why hamstring yourself with the wrong hardware? I believe there are several extremely high quality carbines with the 1/9 twist including the Smith and W. M&P and the Daniel Defense carbine. 69 gr. is heavy enough for what the average joe needs.

Are those Thermold mags offered in the CDNN Sports deal any good? If they are then thats not a bad deal at all.

mshootnit i agree with what your saying 100% and understand fully but i already have a 1:9 twist .223/5.56 rifle and want the 1:7 so i can shoot those heavier projectiles

thanks for all the help guys i really appreciate it

Dazen, those Thermold mags are completely functional, but sell from CDNN for only $5-6 each and are not "high speed" by current standards. They will work fine, in case I'm not being clear.

TopGunSupply has them on sale right now for $1150. That is a fantastic price.
