Is it just me or is the 70 series 38 super government model hard to find ?
I can't find any for sale to get an idea of price.
I have a chance to buy a very nice original one (no box), but can't find any of them anywhere for sale to comparison shop.
I can't find any even on the auction sites.
I see plenty of 70 series government 45's, but not 38 supers.
I know what the Blue Book is saying, but was curious if the 38 super brings any kind of premium ?
Any help here would be great.

Thanks, Jeff (GUNKWAZY)

Thanks for the info 45.
Can't really use that one as a comp, due in part being that it's nowhere near factory original.

I would think 38supers were made at a much smaller ratio than 45acps. Also a local shop had a series 70 commander of some sort in 9Luger and he attached a very high price to it as he figured the caliber was rare in that model.

38super is also popular in the southwest/border areas, very popular with Mexicans so they may be getting snapped up quickly. Do you see many other Colt 38supers for sale by chance like series 80's?

I went to a gun show in Tuscon last year and a guy selling a few 38super Colts was doing pretty well. One Mexican fellow that looked fairly young and was dressed shabbily was paying cash, like $4000 for two very done up and nice Colt 38supers,one looked like Lew Horton editions.
