Colt AR-15

Fascinating Foxfire! I did not know this genus of Colt AR existed at all. Nice detective work. And now you’ve educated us all on this variant. How does it shoot?

It shoots very well. The original owner had installed a low-end scope that had rails on top & side and had installed a low-end red laser on the side and a low-end holographic site on the top which I have removed and will replace with a Eo-Tech holographic site & magnifier which I had on a Ruger SR-556. Below is another post from someone else on the Colt Forum substantiating the previous one. Hopefully this information will be of help to others.

"Yes, your upper half is a Colt Expanse model (assembled in TX by Colt Competition Rifle a Colt supplier) using Colt parts from their official approved suppliers.

The Expanse series which I had, the barrel markings are under the barrel (and same markings as yours with chamber, twist and letter P proof mark), not on top of the barrel like the usual Colt carbines.

One big difference of the Expanse series 16" barrels is they're not chrome lined, most of the M4 LE series Colt barrels are chrome lined."
