Saw one at the Gun Show today for $425. 3in Barrel, full under lug, .38 special.
The guy said they are made out of aluminum?
Just looking for some info on it and whether the price is right.

Yes, aluminum frame; they were Colt's lightweight D frame version of the S&W small frame Airweight revolvers. If what you saw was in excellent to fine condition and well maintained, I would have scooped it up for $425.....the 3" Cobra is rarer than the 2" ! It will only increse in value if cared for. They are lovely revolvers....but I would recommend mainly using standard pressure rounds for casual shooting and save the +p stuff for "social occasions".

-Regards

it was in near perfect condition, never been fired, two owners.
Guy bought it from colt, sold it to another guy, other guy sold it back.

If it sounds too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true.

I'm not sure how "too good to be true" it is. I mean its $425 when the 2in versions often go for about than $300 in great condition.

The three-inch barrel is rarer (I've never seen one personally, though I have seen one four-inch). If I wanted to collect Colt revolvers and had the money I would have bought it (after trying to talk him down;)). But everyone's priorities are different. If such things are not important to you, you probably did the right thing by passing on it.

But if you change your mind and go back, it'll probably be gone. ;)

If you have an opportunity, go back and get it- NOW~!

RUN- DO NOT WALK. These things are more scarce than hens teeth~!
$425 seems like an excellent price for a 3" model. The 27th Blue Book
Of Gun Values Agrees; but they say figure an additional 15% for the
3" barrel.

Although I have little real use for it - preferring subcompact autoloaders for actual shooting - I'm going to hang onto my 1974 Agent with factory hammer shroud for awhile. I also have a 1982 stainless Python.

well now i have a problem, because i want to get a Ruger sp101 for CC, but i don't have the cash for both. Gah! :banghead:

Would the colt make a good CCW?
