I fired about 40 rounds of Olympic FMJ ammo through my Colt Combat Commander 9mm this morning.
I had one failure to eject/feed, but after slicking the gun up with some Break Free, had no more problems.
I've read some bad stuff about Olympic ammo, but am working through 1,000 rounds and have had no real problems.

I mainly did Mozambique drills, shooting two to center of a International Silhouette target and then one to the head. I started two handed with my strong hand, then moved to one handed and then one handed weak hand. The target was at 50 feet and wasn't hard to hit. I could have shot a smaller group though.

My 88 year-old Dad was at the range, and I asked if he wanted to shoot the 9mm. He's in good shape for his age, but never learned the 1911. He had trouble taking off the safety and, although the trigger has been smoothed and lightened, had problems making the gun go off once or twice. I should have gotten out the .22 revolver, for him. (I figure it's going to be revolvers for me, when/if I get as venerable as my old man.)

My wife shot a little too. She had less trouble running the Commander, although did have some safety difficulty. She yanked the trigger and flinched badly once.

We got out the Smith Model 18 and she shot that a lot better. My 12 year-old was coaching his mother, telling her how to handle both guns. She looked at me and quietly said, "He's so cute!" (I'm going to get the son to ask my wife to come shooting from now on.)

My son shot the 9mm too. He's shot it before and did fine.
The target looked like it had been shot with a bunch of buckshot loads after we got through.

Cheap 9mm is a good thing. I need some more practice and shooting inexpensive 9mm is a good way to get it. Practice with the 9mm Commander transfers to the .45s too.
