Background:
In the summer of 2012, Colt was awarded an IDIQ contract to produce a 1911for the Marines/ MARSOC called the "Colt Marine Pistol." Does anyone know how things are faring?

By the way, the last time someone brought this up it stirred up quite a bit of passion on THR.

I'm not really interested in starting yet another lame "Glock vs 1911" spitting contest. I just want to know how the contract is going, how the pistols are handling military service, and how many have been delivered. I'm not finding much on the interwebs.

Just the facts Jack.

No news likely means the pistols are working just fine.

My recent-production Colt is boringly reliable. I imagine the same is true for the M45. It's not like the M45 was a revolutionary platform for the Marines anyway, since they've been using the MEU(SOC) 1911 pistols for years.

A recently ETSed Marine armorer I know stated that many units he worked with had returned to the M9 after mutliple QA/QC/reliabilty issues with the Colts. I have no idea if he is correct, or full of it...
