Hey Guys,

I am having a problem stripping a Series 80 Officier's Model, this gun belonged to an uncle of mine. He installed a full-length guide rod at some point. I am familiar with how to strip standard 1911s. I have seen number of different types of guide rods and bushings for officier's models, but not one like this. Most types of solid guide rods I have seen have some hole for a staple, pin, etc. to compress the spring, this one does not. Any ideas on how to remove the guide rod?

Thanks.

Have you tried just pulling the end next to the barrel link up & out?

This.

I have an RIA officer model with a full length guide rod. Just lift the end with the buffer on it out of the slide, and then pull the reverse plug out and remove the barrel. Re-assemble in reverse order.

Tried it..

... so when i try this this guide rod binds on the bushing and and the cam on the barrel. Any other ideas?

Thanks again.

Rotate it 90 degrees so the half moon cut isn't hitting the barrel lugs?

Or pull harder.
