A colleague has a Stainless Python for sale, 6" barrel, synthetic grips with Colt logo and Pachmyr grips also available. No box, documents, etc. he is asking $2,600 for the gun. It is in excellent condition- does this seem too high on price?

Bit High

No box or docs. Don't know if grips are original. IMHO I think he is AT LEAST $1000 high. Then again, he could get lucky. If it were a shorter barrel he might have a better shot at a price north of $2k.
All else being equal with what you described, $1200-$1400 sounds about right with what I see in the local market.
Best of luck.

I just sold one very similar to the one you described to a very discerning buyer, $1400. Mine was the bright stainless model, one of the last off the line serial number-wise.

The condition of my gun was excellent plus.

I cannot imagine paying that much for the Python you described.

All that said, I almost never see one come up for sale these days around here. When they do the range is $1000-$1500.

It would take more then couple of six packs for me.......not sure what they bring now I stopped looking at prices couple of years ago.

With a box and documents, unshot...certainly $1800-$2200 is not unrealistic.

No box or documents, it can drop a few hundred. Shot but cared for another few hundred.

I'd strive for $1200-$1400.

There is a 4" stainless Python NIB, seemingly never fired with original paper work for $2500 in my parts. I thought that was a bit high for a pistol that has not been made in decades, but I guess some thing is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it!?
