I have one similar to that (XXE) and I love it! I've put well over 1k (lost track a couple years ago) through mine without a single issue or FTF. Personally I feel the Colt 1911 is the greatest of the great congrats!
Congrats on your new Colt! The LW Commander is an awesome gun. Here's mine before I sent it off for customization.
It recently took a trip to EGW for a steel feed ramp insert, bobtail modification, Novak night sights, EB grip safety, and barrel re-crown to match EGW fat bushing & matching extended recoil spring plug... that work is done now, so it's off to APW for nickel plating. Can't wait to get it back!
mine is getting a ream job tonight. Should feed anything tomorrow!! There wasnt enough clearance between the barrel and feed ramp. I am lucky I have a great smith 30 min away from me
That's a beauty. I've always had a soft spot for Colts anyway, they fit my grip and shooting style better than most other makers I've tried. Good luck with the 'smith's mods, hopefully you'll be trouble free and carrying soon.

Colt does not use the Kimber safety system ("schwartz"), they do produce series 80 guns, Springfield uses extra power FP springs and Ti firing pins as their safety measures. There's nothing wrong with series 80 guns, they're just as reliable as series 70s and the trigger pull can be just as sweet. I've owned several of each and never had a problem with a single Colt.
