My local purveyor of fine firearms had a mahogany box sitting out on the used gun counter the other day. On its top was a factory colt letter attes, ting to the manufacture date of two colt SAAs they were made in 1956.
I opened the lid of the chest and inside in velvet linning were two fire blued and case hardened 5.5" barreled .38 spl SAAs.
They had genuine Ivory stocks.
They had the most tastefully done yet elaborate factory engraving, it was classic and covered the entire gun in all the right places. It was also filled with gold wire in most areas of the engraving.
I picked one up and examined it, absolutely gorgeous and in perfect unfired condition.
So of course the first thing I did was cock the hammer a few times ....
Just kidding, they had brown plastic wire ties on them.
SO can anyone guess how much this special order matched pair ivory grip consecutive serial numbered from 1956 specially engraved gold wire inlayed and custom delux finnished genuine factory lettered SAAs were selling for????
