I've decided I need a compact 9mm to carry IWB/OWB concealed. Have been looking at the Walther P99c. My criteria is under 25 oz. with no manual safety . . . decocker preferred. (Has to go bang just with a pull of the trigger).

Would very much appreciate suggestions as to anything comparable to the Walther that I should be considering as well. [Have tried Glocks and Kahrs, but not a good fit/feel for me.]

Thanks,
ART

I'd also be curious about some advice in this area, was planning on asking this same question haha. I'm also looking at a compact 9mm for an upcoming purchase. Considering several models. Possibly an XD compact, S&W M&P, Taurus Mil Pro, H&K, Sig, or anything else you might recommend.

I don't really have much of a preference for safety or decocker myself. I'm also typically not that fond of Glocks, so I would like to hear some other options. Thanks!

One that I really like, after playing with it at the store at least, is the new S&W M&P Compact. It is a double stack so it may be a little thick for some to conceal.

I just bought a Kahr CW9. It's about the smallest 9mm I've seen lately except for the KelTec. What I like about it is it's only .9" wide so it conceals very well and is very comfortable IWB. It's been accurate and reliable so far 300+- rds.

XD 9 subcompact. You can get some great deals on them for little more than $400, and they are reliable and accurate.

You might want to check out kel tec's p-11. Double stack mag, 10 rounds + 1, double action only. I've got one. Had it for about 5 years. Shoots anything I put in her and have never had a problem. Plus it's easy to conceal and it's light.

The Walther is good, I got one myself, I personally have been looking at the P2000SK in .40 myself. It meets your requirements, only difference between the versions is the action.

Since you didn't say pocket carry, but IWB/OWB, try one like mine. I have a Kahr MK9 and love the thing. It is my most often carried firearm. It is small enough for pocket carry but a little heavy for that in most cases.

Two months ago I was in the same place you now find yourself.

I am left handed and needed an ambidextrous pistol and I tried everything.

Settled on the S&W M&P Compact in 9mm.....loaded it with new loads made just for short barrled pistols and it is all one could want.

I use a Yaquri (sp?) and it carries extremely well. If needed, I can put the weapon in my jacket or briefcase and the holster looks like anything BUT a gun holster.

You will carry more hours than you will shoot. Consider comfort, the way it "fits" your hand, firepower that places hits where you look and DO NOT settle for anything you do not love.

Hope this is of help.

Another vote for the CZ-75D PCR. Great compact 9MM that can also be an accurate and fun range gun.

I had a Walther P99C but I found (eventually) that the full-sized P99 was just as easy (and comfortable) to carry but easier to shoot. Besides, it's nice carrying 16 rds instead of just 10 in the gun. I never could get used to the sub-compact feel.

I carry mine in a Comp-Tac Pro Undercover IWB.

I struggled for the longest time to find a replacement for my KT P-11. I handled a M&P 9mm at a gun show and that was that. I have the compact and I love it. It is only marginally bigger than my KT and it fits my hand and shoots great.

Get a S&W 3913, without the luggage rack under the dust cover. Slim, light, and reliable. You will be glad you bought it. TJ

Itty-bitty

Depends on just what your definition of "compact" is, I suppose. I like the Rohrbaugh R9, though it's a tad pricey - phenomenal little package, though, and perfect for pocket carry.

Walther P99c, HK P2000SK, Glock 26. The smallest available would be Keltec P11 and Kahr PM9.

The ultralight Kel-Tec PF9 single stack or marginally larger double stack P-11 would be great economical options that are DAO. CZ does offer their compact 2075 Rami with a poly frame if the weight of a metal frame 75 compact is an issue.

If by 'compact' you mean a single stack, you might want to look at S&Ws 39 series.

The Colt 'Pocket 9' is a smaller single stack. I guess you could call it a 'pocket pistol' depending on the size of your pockets. Its out of print, but they are still available.

Lately I've been fooling around with the 3913 Lady Smith. It carries well. Reach from the back strap to the face of the trigger suits my arthritic stubby fingers. So far, I kinda like it. We'll see how it works out. It has a decoker and the backwards (for me) safety. I'm not going to sell my Kahrs, but I'd feel just as comfortable with the Lady Smith.

Those 3 are the only small, 'compact', single stack 9X19s that I have any personal experience with. I like 'em all, but for different reasons. The Kahr K-9 is all steel and handles well. The Colt hides well. The Lady Smith does both almost as well as either.

salty.

HK P7. A bit over your weight limit, but a very nice gun. Odd manual of arms and pricey though.

The S&W 39xx and Sig 239 are my other favorites in this range. For me though, the P7 beats both of them handily which is why I have my 39xx up for sale.
