Glock 19.

Easily concealable, reliable, easy to maintain and find parts for, inexpensive, huge aftermarket support, 16 round capacity, and you can do most work yourself with either minor mechanical know-how or the ability to search youtube. Glock 26 or m&p 9c would be my second choice. There are more G19s in the holsters around the world than any of the others you listed, and for many of reasons listed above.

...

Something else -

SA EMP 9mm, 9+1 SAO 1911

Same, SAO, light/clean/crisp trigger pull right out of the NIB..

Locked and cocked with 2 safety's, thumb slide lock, and palm grip, safety

10 rounds

Light weight/balanced (all metal) and full (enough) grip that no pinkie extension needed.

Tack-drivers with the way, overbuilt, 3" bull barrel.

Lifetime warranty, no questions asked and outstanding CS dept and they pay shipping both ways anytime.

EMP 9mm vs Kahr 9mm, IIRC (not my guns)

My EMP 9mm vs my Sig P229R CT 9mm *(thin, single stack, grip/mags) vs double stack grip/mags

A bit expensive but, without doubt, a great, lifetime, investment

which would be your compact 9mm of choice? Just curious what your personal preference would be based on what you look for in a carry weapon in 9mm.

Reliability, dimensions/size, weight, & capacity are the most important criteria for a CCW. That's why I picked a P11. Are there prettier 9mm CC class pistols? Heck yeah, but none of them top out in the 4 categories listed.

GLOCK Concealed carry in a 9mm needs to be dead accurate .
Do your homework about that 9mm as a carry weapon. lol this is old!

pm9 and pf9 are subcompact, I list the weapons as compact that are described as compact by the company that designed them.

Daniel, this thread started yesterday, don't think that qualifies as old. We have had people resurrect threads 5-10 YEARS after the last post, now that's necromancy!
Carry what fits you and you trust. I don't trust Glock and a few others due to personal experiances, your mileage will vary.

The HK P2000SK shouldn't be overlooked. As for a subcompact the Kahr PM9 would be a good one to have.

Ah, Bushmaster, if it wasn't for no parts/support, the Firestar is not a bad little all steel cocked and locked gun - had one years ago. Good sidearm, RIP, Star.

I've owned a couple of M43's. They are good guns, as are most Stars, but they are heavy little buggers, with a limited mag capacity compared to others their size.

Springfield EMP. I bought two in 9mm. Gave one to my daughter. She needed a gun for CCW, her Colt Combat Elite in 45acp of course, was just to big for her.

She stands 4'11" at about 100lbs. She considers my Glock 26, HK 2000sk, S&W M&P 9c etc, (and there are a bunch more) to blocky or thick. She likes the thin 1911 and 1911 derivatives. She shoots Steel and IDPA with a Colt Government 9mm, most often.

I use my EMP as my small CCW weapon, when amy currant 1911 is just to long. Which by the way is not often.

Go figure.

WOW! I am surprised that the Sig didn’t get more votes. Every gun on your list could be a good choice. Everyone has its followers. I have shot most of these (maybe not the exact variant) and I have to say,
I think I will keep my Sig.

It's funny. Many times new posters are told to use the search function because the topic has been beaten to death. When newbies read old posts and resurrect them after years others complain that the post is ancient. LoL, can't win sometimes.

It's shocking that most would pick the Glock. Apparently government agency can get them for just over $300 with night sights and 6 magazines. I refuse to pay $500 or more for new one with plain sights and fewer magazines. I will never own a Glock.

I picked up a Ruger SR9c a few months ago, after comparing it to just about every compact 9mm. in the store. This included a CZ P-01, Glock 19, XD 9 Compact, S&W M&P 9 Compact, and a SIG P-250. Not to say that all the other 9mm.'s weren't great compact guns; it's just that the Ruger felt the best ergonomically in my hands. It seemed to point on target very naturally and I could quickly acquire a decent sight picture. I also liked its thumb safety and grip frame material. Fit and finish were excellent, and I also appreciated the "little" extra design features like the reversible backstrap and the choice of the extended or flat mag base plate. Overall I thought it was the best designed and built compact 9mm. for me.

Are you saying that you'll never own a Glock because they won't sell it to you for the same price as the govt gets them for? That's like saying you won't ever buy a computer because Best Buy gets them for $500 and sells them to you for $700. If you bought thousands of Glocks at one time I'd bet you could get them close to what they charge the govt. If you don't like Glock, that's one thing but to expect the same price as someone who buys thousands versus your one then that makes no sense.

I tried a bunch of guns before buying, and am very pleased with carrying my Ruger SR9C every day. Conceals great, shoots even better!
