Hi All,

I'm thinking about getting a CZ-75BD or P-01. I'm leaning toward a P-01 but really prefer a steel frame.

Do they make a Compact, all-steel CZ w/ decocker?...Or is the P-01's alloy frame durable enough for heavy range use?

Thanks!

Pard I don't think that there is an "all steel" CZ compact with or without a decocker.

But don't fret! The all alloy frames of the PCR, P01, etc. are up to the task! You CANNOT find a better made, more shootable, more affordable compact pistol than those offered by CZ.

I personally own a CZ 40P which has an alloy frame and I'm thinkin' I'll wear out before it does!!:p

The CZ P-01 is one tough pistol, as many will attest to here. Check it out:

When comparing the P-01's aluminum frame to my father's Sig 228 (which also has an aluminum frame and is an outstanding pistol as well), it was noticeably thicker. After many rounds through the 228, it doesn't show much wear at all. I can only imagine that the P-01's extensive testing and metallurgy will resist wear and hold up as well, if not better than the Sig.

Check out the following as well for more info on the P-01:

Hope this helps.

If you don't need a light rail, the the CZ-75D PCR is a great choice. Slimmer in the muzzle and easier to carry. No worries on the alloy frame.

There are two all-steel compact CZs. The 1) 75 Compact (in 9mm) and 2) the 75 Compact in .40. The .40 version has a frame similar to the P-01 (with an accessory rail), but with safety rather than decocker.

No compact CZ in steel with decocker, however.

As someone else said -- don't worry about the alloy. The guns are very robust. (Years ago the first PCRs had some durability problem, but only with a special "run" that was made for the Police of the Czech Republic [PCR]. That was remedied, and we've not heard of a problem since.)

Yes, there WAS one, the original CZ 75 Compact D, came in a steel frame with decocker - I sold one when I worked at the range. CZ UB doesn't even list it any more, but it did exist - I had one in my hand.:(
Now it's the alloy frames only - and I trust my life to a PO1 or PCR every day.

Keep in mind that the P-01 is the only CZ to use a FORGED alloy frame. It will hold up.

As others have said, the cast alloy frame of the PCR is very strong and durable. They were also "torture tested" before going to the Czech police.
