Does anyone know of any truly concealable rubber grips, with a covered backstrap? I don't need palm swells, finger grooves or bulk. It seems every pair of rubber grips I find, that cover the backstrap, wind up looking more like target grips rather than carry grips. Is the market just not there? The last pair I tried was the Pachmyers Compacts on a 65 R/B 3". Felt too big and were, in my opinion, anything but compact. I've posted about this before, that stupid steel "horn" on my Smith revolvers is begining to really beat up my hand. I can shoot my Ruger SP-101 with full house magnums better than a 3"65. The grips aren't any bigger, but the design is MUCH better for me.

Because of the hideously high cost of making the molds, there just aren't that many companies offering rubber grips.

Pachmayr offers smaller grips than the Compac, but they all have open back straps.

Hogue grips all have open straps.

Butler Creek's, are too big, with finger grooves, and/or open straps.

About the smallest S&W "K" rubber grip is the Pachmayr Professional Compac. The Professional has NO finger grooves, and no swells or "thumb rest". These are about as small as a grip can get, but do have the open strap.

Other than trying something like the rubber tube "Glock sock" type slip-on rubber covers, I have no good advice for you.

SGT,

I have had the same problem finding decent grips for my 640. The open back Hogue Bantam style grips conceal great but the open strap is hard on your hand when shooting hotter loads. Shooting .357 is like hitting a tree with an aluminum bat. My buddy has a Taurus model 85. The factory Taurus grip covres the back strap yet is shorter and slimmer than the full size Uncle Mikes and Hogue grip. I wish that I could buy one of the Taurus grips to try on my 640.

You can. Taurus will sell them to you. I found two pair on this board FS by one of our esteemed members.:D

Will the Taurus grips fit a S&W? J frame only or do they have a comparable K-L Frame round butt frame size?

I just put Pachmayr Compacs on my Model 60. I really like the feel of them althought I haven't shot the pistol yet. I think they will be a difinite improvement over that banana-shaped Uncle Mike's that came stock with the gun. Hated that grip.

I don't know about K/L frames. I use their grips on J-frames.
