I'm looking for rubber grips for my vaquero, preferably with a covered backstrap. I saw pachmayrs but they seemed to be the only one, the hogue monogrip still has the open strap. suggestions?
i have a friend who works for lyman (which owns pachmayr) and when he recommended their grips I thought the same thing, BLASPHEMY! But he explained to me that the gun is really a shooter and that since i dont do any cowboy-action style stuff with it I might as well make it comfortable. I realized he had a good point.
I used the Pachmayr grip on my Blackhawk .45 for a while but the guys over at Ruger forum shamed me into taking it off and learning how to shoot it with the regular grips. I do use a thin glove when shooting my .44 for more than a few cylinders of full power ammo. What it really boils down to though, it's your gun. Put on it whatever is most comfortable to you and allows you to shoot better!!
