I'm looking at a REALLY nice CZ-82 and had a few questions. I know they are C&R, but I was curious as to what the newer CZ's have over the 82? I'm not looking for any polymer vs metal debate, but was truly curious as to what the -82 has that the newer CZ's don't and vice versa.

I'm more a 1911 guy, but like the safety features on the CZ and wanted something fun to shoot. Do the newer CZ's have the polygonal rifling? Things like that...

Please, educate me!!!

I am not sure what you'd gain by comparing the two (unless you're considering an 83). The 75B and it's variants are quite different pistols that fall into different uses. Someone generally wouldn't be choosing between an 82 and a 75B. They'd want one or the other for different reasons.

hi all ,i have had a CZ75 since 1977 i have put tens of thousands of rounds through it and i can honestly say i have never had 1 stopage of any kind this includes home loads its great and still going strong . the rail system is one of the longest on any of the auto's ,go for one of the new ones you'll never regret it. i'll try and get a photo on for you ,not sure how to do it yet

The older CZ 75s had lower, similar to a GI 1911, sights.

THe newer ones, CZ 75B mill a rib on the top of the slide
that is full length and serrated the sights wtick up and are
three(white) dot. ALso the newer ones - trigger has more
curve in it for the DA pull - subtle changes over time all
for functionality/easier use.

you are quite right about the rib but not sure about the trigger curve, mine still has the original plastic grips , never had a broken part in all this time.brilliant. i forgot to say the original finish was black paint, thats the only thing i changed in about 31 years.

The 82 and the 75 are miles apart. The 75 was built for export, the 82 built as a Czech improvement over the Makarov as an army issue weapon. 82 is a good solid sidearm built with CZ quality, but it's not a 75.

Blind justice this is the one i was talking about if you compare the trigger with the newer ones there is not a lot of difference. You can only apply the safety when the gun is cocked , hence carry cocked and locked

I read where the owner of a mid-90s CZ 75(B?) was trying to
identify it's age. The serial number was RH side of the frame
above the rear portion of the trigger guard. My recent, Jan '08,
CZ 75B - the serial number is above the forward portion of the
trigger guard, and also appears on the slide in the same position
in addition, the slide serial number has a stapmed CZ trademark
symbol as does the frame number but the slide's serial number is
prefixed with a two digit number indicating year of manufacture
08

i checked ther now no date mark on this one but it had to have been made between 75-77 I bought it brand new in 77

Look at the oval behind the ejection port, there is a small year
stamped there.
