I was just thinking about the differences in the 452 Lux's. Between the Lux, Trainer, and Ultra Lux, which one do you like the best? Because I may be purchasing one in the near future, I would like to know what everyone else thinks.

Personally, I think that the Ultra Lux would be the best, because of the longer barrel gives a better sight picture. But would the extra barrel length make the gun less fun to shoot? (Non-existent report)

I am getting a 452 soon too. I just wish the American had open sights, but as it is, I am going for the Lux.

What are you going to use the rifle for? I don't like longer barrels and the length on Ultra Lux seems excessive especially since the optimum length ballistically speaking for the .22 is about sixteen inches. Longer than that, and ballistics suffer a little, but the benefits of the longer barrel may outweigh any negatives for you.

Where are you buying yours? Online or from a dealer.

I have an UltraLux: IMO, it balances very well and the long sight radius helps accuracy (especially after the rear blade is replaced with an aperture). If you're leaving it unscoped, I can at least recommend the UltraLux. The report doesn't seem to be all that reduced.

452 Training Rifle = Beechwood stock, 24" barrel
452 Lux = 452 Training Rifle + Walnut stock
452 Ultra Lux = 452 Lux + 29" barrel

All use the same action.

If cost is an issue, the Training Rifle is the way to go. Even if it wasn't, the difference in the stock between it and the Lux is not always that great and/or noticable.

Personally, I do like the additional length of the UL. (Have 2 Training and a UL. Wood grain quality of the CZ guns have always been a crapshoot so never saw the advantage of getting a Lux.)

I have a Lux, and I love it.

For the shooter on a budget, the Trainer will shoot just as accurately. It's just not as pretty with the beechwood stock.

I have lusted after an Ultra Lux for a while. The extra sight radius would be helpful shooting with irons. But the Lux does so well, I can't justify it. I certainly won't sell my Lux.

Whatever you get, feed it some CCI Subsonics.

I was going to get the American, but I just got back from the gunshop and they have a Lux 2E for $289, so I will be about $312 out the door. The next best price I could find here was $389 plus tax plus a three day wait.

Can't wait!
