I was looking around the web and found articles on semi auto Sten and Suomi rifles.

Most of what I read said you have to make the guns from parts kits.

Is there a company making COMPLETED semi auto versions of these guns?

Also, I remember seeing an article about a new gun using an FNFAL stock and trigger, combined with a cobray mac 11 receiver, that used suomi mags.

Anyone have information on this?

Sorta. The FAL monstrosity is the Masterpiece Arms rifle ( http://www.masterpiecearms.com/prod...2A&PHPSESSID=3a93cb5410235322853762217ca73525 ).

As to the availability of true semi-only Sten and Suomis, there isn't a cheap way to do it. The original versions basically worked by having the bolt slam back and forth until the trigger caught it when you quit squeezing.

To modify this into a semi-only setting, especially since semis firing from an open bolt aren't kosher anymore, it takes too much time and money invested into re-designing the mechanism and to build or purchase the necessary tooling to do it on a large level. Plus, the barrels would have to be made longer, too, unless they went all-SBR and that tacks on immediately a long waiting period and an extra $200.

When people think "Sten," they think of an exhaust pipe with a wire stock and a magazine sticking out the side, which is what they basically were. Realistically, a production semi-only Sten would run about $600-$800 a gun. Same for Suomis.

Just because there are a billion "parts kits" out there doesn't mean there's a cheap, easy, legal way to make 'em. That's why there're still so many out there. Plus, for every ten people who say they'd buy a production gun even from a company putting out a good design, only one or two actually do.

There just isn't any money in it. :(
