I am looking two pistols for my conceal carry and wanted to see if
I could get a few suggestions. The first one is the Springfield GI 1911
Micro Compact or the Baretta Cheettah Nickel plated 380. I have read
That they are both awesome pistols and I know both have the name behind
Them to know that either one would be a awesome choice. I have never owned
A 45, but I have owned a 380 Walther I just didn't like the heavy tigger. Any suggestions
Would be greatly appreciated.

Springfield micro However you could for less money Get the Rock Island compact and its as good or better than the Springer . For more money a Colt Defender still 1911 style but lighter and a Colt.
And you thought this be easy Leave the Beretta If you must have a 380 better choices.

Shoot one of those micro 1911's before deciding. They kick pretty darn hard.

If price is a concern, consider a Kahr CW9. Thin, light, 9mm, great trigger.

I've shot the RIA officer 1911, it didn't kick very much at all. Just as much maybe less than my Glock 17.

Well if you don't mind the weight, the RIA compact 1911 is a great carry piece.

If its between those 2 guns only id pick the .45 over the .380 anyday.
The Springfield GI is a nice bare bones gun and id prefer it over many other guns.
But if you have never shot a .45 you may want to try one out in a small gun like that before buying.

Kersting,

First of all to answer your question about which between the two that you list that I would pick, the Springfield hands down. Reason being with all the sub compact .380's being released on to the market, In my opinion it is a waste of money to get a larger size .380 when you can pick up a 9mm it the same size and get cheaper ammo. Unless of course you are extremley recoil sensitive. However since you were debating a .45 I gather this is not the case.

Also having no knowledge of your shooting experience I am not trying to jump to any conclusions, but if you have not fired a 3" sub-compact 45 before I would highly suggest doing so through either a friend or renting from a local gun range before making that your carry choice. We all want to carry a large caliber and I own a few .45's myself but you need to be able to hit your target and get rounds to connect. As a wise man once said, carry the largets caliber you can shoot accurately

Just a few suggestions.

You could always get the combination of the 1911 and a little .380 by getting yourself a SIG P238 . I'm not a big fan of .380, but I must admit I have been tempted. They are very nice little guns.

Get a Rock island Commander size .45 and a SIG P238, one for holster and one for the pocket. Of your picks I would go with the .45, although the Beretta has very low recoil and would have faster follow up shots.

The Colt Defender is a very fine pistol, and performs especially well when firing 185 grain bullets; something in the timing of the short-barreled .45 operates very smoothly with the 185 grain bullet.

Okay, you'll carry the Colt Defender; but you need a backup: That's where the Sig P238 in .380 comes in. It's the only .380 pistol in current production that's SAO. you'll get a 1911-type trigger from this fine little pistol.

The P238 is smaller & lighter than the PPK, the Makarov and the Bersa; and none of those have the large target-style sights and the smooth trigger action of the P238.
