I'm not exactly on the same scale of hand size as Andre the Giant. Maybe more like Magnus Samuelson. I have big hands.
But, the rest of me is only 6' tall and 215 lbs. So, I'm just a regular joe.

What concealable handguns can you recommend for someone with large hands and a need for a concealable weapon?

thanks,

Andy

I'm guessing a Seecamp is out. :uhoh:;)

You should have no trouble with any of the double-stack/double-action service pistols (e.g., CZ75, SIG P226) on the market, or a medium-frame revolver with oversize stocks (check out Herrett's made-to-measure ones).

seecamp, lol.

My current carry is a Dan Wesson 357 or a CZ-85 combat.
I'm just looking for something more concealable. Like the beretta cougar in 45. Only not as stubby.

We're about the same body size (I might have five pounds or so on ya) and I've got fairly large hands myself. That being said, my Ruger P345 fits my hands like a glove and conceals nicely, even in our NC summers. :)

How about one of the mini Glocks? Small yet stubby enough for bigger hands to hold & control.

Take a look at the Walther P99 with the large backstrap.

I have found mine to be very reliable, easy to conceal, and very comfortable (I also have pretty large hands).

In the long run, would it be feasible to look at both custom grips and gunsmithing? Especially for 1911s and revolvers, there are endless grip selections. Look in the back of some of the magazines or google 'custom handgun grips'. It won't be free of cost, but it might give you a significantly better fit than the rest of have.

ccw for large hands

i am 6 foot 5 with hands to match. crimson trace makes a new grip for j-frames, it has a thicker backstrap than previous but it still has the easy to conceal two finger grip. Mine came stock on my m&p 340 ct, it is a .357 mag so has plenty of stopping power.

The full size S&W M&P fitted with the large backstrap is about the same size as that CZ, but is much lighter. Your fingers are likely to overlap the short butt of the compact, even with the finger extension magazine in place. Even for myself, I would like to see an "in-between" size M&P.

The Glock 19 is a very "size-efficient" pistol, quite compact but still holding 15 rounds. It fits me almost perfectly. You may wish to fit it with a grip sleeve.

I doiubt I would say I have large hands, but my Kahr P9 has at least a full length grip. I hate my hands hanging off the bottom.

An HK P7M8 has a fairly large grip also.

I was also thinking that ParaOrdnance used to have some P12 and P13 models that were smaller but still had wide grips.

I have carried these concealed:
Revolvers:
Colt Border Patrol; S&W models: 19, 66 with 4" barrel, 66 with 2.5", and 17-10 with 6" barrel.

Semi-Autos: Beretta (2Sb, Beretta 92FS,Glock 19, Glock 26 (forget this one for really big hands though, the grip size, or lack of size, would quite possibly be a problem); Ortgies Pocket Pistol in .32 auto (maybe too small for your likes).

All the best,
Glenn B

I have big hands, and my P229 fits me like a glove. The aftermarket Hogue grips did wonders, and the controls are right where I'd want them.

If you can shoot 1911's comfortably, take a look at a 3" and 4" versions. Very concealable.

A Browning High-Power is a possibility. As is a CZ 75 Compact.
.

I'm 6' tall and around 180 lbs.
I have yet to find anything that works better, (for me), than my 1911 and an IWB holster.
