P226 as a Concealed Carry Weapon

Well, I ordered the gun last week. I picked it up at my FFL today on the way home from work. I'm very happy with it! I cleaned it down, and it's ready to go pending the holster. I ordered the MTAC also Friday, and they sent me an email today getting it shipped. I paid 738 + 20 s&h +35 transfer. I got it at my door for under $800, so I am very happy with the price I paid.

For a question, there's no external safety, so how do you guys carry it? One in the chamber with the hammer down?

For the help, I attached some pics!

Load the gun and decock it. The gun is meant to be carried with the hammer down with a DA first shot.

Also get in the habit of decocking it at each extended pause. Once you ingrain the response, you wont have to think about it. It will also give you more practice with that DA first shot.

I owned a P226 and it was too big to carry concealed. She's one fat heavy girl. If Sig is your flavor of choice, try the P239...which I owned and think is still too heavy for CCW. I think the Sig P225 single stack 9mm is the best choice for Sig CCW...or maybe that little .380 they have who's # I can't remember.
When I think of CCW auto's, first to come to mind are guns like the Glock 26 and the M&P compact, maybe the CZ Rami-P. Not the P226.

Numaone, yes on the hammer down and one in the chamber along with using the decock lever religiously. Also, I would suggest getting in the habit of putting your thumb behind the hammer when you holster the gun. If the trigger hits something that hammer has to move and you'll know it fast enough to stop what you're doing!

Lube the frame rails good. I prefer synthetic wheel bearing grease as it stays on the rails and is good for a huge range in temperature. Now go have fun shooting that Sig. !
